No! Sudden internal conflict in Spurs! The No. 2 pick subtly criticizes the max-contract point guard.

It's over, it's over...

Worse than losing is the internal collapse.

Recently, Harper retweeted a video mocking Fox's poor performance in Game 1 of the Finals, then unshared it. The screenshot text read: "After Fox posted certain stats, it seemed like he was paying tribute to Harden's playoff performance."

Harden: ***

In Game 1 of the Finals, the Spurs lost 95-105 at home to the Knicks, now trailing 0-1 in the series.

In that game, Fox started for 38 minutes, shooting 3-of-13, with 7 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 steal, and 3 turnovers. Harper came off the bench for 28 minutes, shooting 6-of-10, with 16 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, and 1 turnover.

NBA reporter Kevin O'Connor commented: "Harper needs to take over Fox's playing time in the upcoming games. The former should be playing close to 40 minutes per game."

Fox is currently the highest-paid player on the Spurs, and the four-year, $228 million max contract he signed last summer will officially take effect as follows:

2026-27 season: $51 million; 2027-28 season: $55.1 million; 2028-29 season: $59.2 million; 2029-30 season: $63.3 million.

This season is Fox's first full season with the Spurs. He played 72 regular-season games, all starts, averaging 31 minutes per game with 18.6 points, 3.8 rebounds, 6.2 assists, and 1.2 steals, shooting 48.6%, 33.2%, and 76% from the field, three-point, and free-throw line respectively. In this year's playoffs so far, he has averaged 32.9 minutes per game, putting up 15.9 points, 4 rebounds, 5.9 assists, and 1.2 steals, shooting 42.4%, 29.5%, and 72.2%.

Clearly, Fox's performance does not match a max contract, nor does it reflect what a starting point guard for the Spurs should look like. No wonder the No. 2 pick of the 2025 draft, Harper, doesn't respect him — in the competitive world of sports, it's survival of the fittest.

In conclusion, regardless of how the Spurs finish this season, the 28-year-old Fox will be heavily involved in trade rumors this offseason. However, given his long and expensive contract, it's uncertain whether any team will step up as a buyer.
