Referees for Game 4 of the Finals Announced: Most Acclaimed Official to Serve as Crew Chief, Three Officials' Win Rates Revealed

As of June 10 Beijing time, Game 4 of the NBA Finals is scheduled for June 11, and the Knicks hold a 2-1 series advantage over the Spurs. The league has revealed the referee lineup for Game 4: Zach Zarba takes the lead as crew chief, alongside James Williams and Courtney Kirkland.

Last month, the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) released its annual survey rating NBA referees based on player feedback. The poll covered all 30 teams and 411 players, aiming to recommend playoff officials and guide the selection of referees for the Finals. Zach Zarba ranked first overall among all NBA referees, making him the highest-rated official by players across the league.

At 51 years old, Zach Zarba is officiating his 13th Finals appearance. He has worked 86 Spurs games, with the Spurs posting a 55-31 record (64% win rate), the best among all 30 teams. He has also officiated 98 Knicks games, where New York went 42-56 (42.9% win rate), ranking 24th out of 30 teams.

James Williams, 47, is officiating his sixth Finals. He has refereed 63 Spurs games, with San Antonio going 34-29 (54% win rate), eighth-best in the league. He has also worked 56 Knicks games, where New York holds a 20-36 record (35.7% win rate), ranked 28th among 30 teams.

Courtney Kirkland, 51, is officiating his fifth Finals. He has called 111 Spurs games, with the Spurs winning 78 and losing 33 (70.3% win rate), the best in the league. He has also officiated 109 Knicks games, where New York has a 44-65 record (40.4% win rate), tied for 28th out of 30 teams.

In this postseason, under Zarba's officiating, the Spurs are 3-1 and the Knicks are 1-1. With Williams on the crew, the Spurs are 2-1 and the Knicks are 2-0. Under Kirkland, the Spurs are 1-1 and the Knicks are 2-0.

Game 4 will continue at the Knicks' home court. Data sites have also released the home-court win percentages for these three referees this season. Zarba has officiated 60 games this season, with a home-team win rate of 56.7%. Williams has worked 64 games, with a home-team win rate of 60.9%. Kirkland has officiated 60 games, with a home-team win rate of 50%.
