The Warriors haven't given up and are still pursuing James! They can only offer him $15 million in salary, which LeBron isn't interested in.

James's future is still the biggest unsolved puzzle of this offseason. There has been a great deal of debate regarding whether he will embark on his 24th season and, if he returns as a complete free agent, which team he will play for.

For a long time, one of the teams consistently connected to James has been the Golden State Warriors, with many people fantasizing about the ultimate pairing of James and Curry. According to NBA insiders Marc Stein and Jake Fischer, the Warriors do have interest in pursuing James this summer:

"It is widely believed that staying with the Lakers is his first choice, as he has deep roots in Los Angeles after spending eight seasons with the purple and gold. However, league sources insist that the Golden State Warriors remain interested in adding LeBron to their core lineup of Curry, Butler, Green, and coach Steve Kerr… Presumably, their recruitment pitch might include the idea that LeBron could commute to some extent from Los Angeles without having to relocate his entire family."

The issue of bringing James to the Warriors once again comes down to finances, as the team has no cap space and can only offer roughly $15 million via the non-taxpayer mid-level exception. Furthermore, multiple sources indicate that James seems reluctant to take a significant pay cut to sign with another team. The Lakers are still one of the few teams with enough cap room to offer him a large contract, but given that they have many other players in free agency and also want to upgrade their roster, it is unclear how much they are willing to pay James.

A well-connected league source told NBC Sports Bay Area on Wednesday: "I know it sounds crazy, but at least both sides are curious. This kind of conversation would have been impossible five or six years ago, and it might still not happen now, but there are already some signs emerging that we shouldn't ignore. Ultimately, it depends on LeBron himself."

Barkley believes that neither the Warriors nor the Lakers are the ideal destination for James this summer, and he outlined what he sees as an obvious choice for the superstar in free agency.

On ESPN's *Get Up* program, Barkley said: "I think LeBron has only one option, and that's to return to Cleveland. That's his only sensible, logical choice. Go back, finish his career with the Cavaliers. That's the perfect ending. Staying in Los Angeles does him no good, because first, they won't be competitive in the West. Second, it's time for the Lakers to hand the team over to Luka."

"They can't compete with the Spurs. An aging 42-year-old won't help them beat the Thunder or the Timberwolves either. They won't be competitive. If he stays in Los Angeles, it's for off-court reasons. But if he returns to the Cavaliers—and I think he never should have left there in the first place—the Cavs could very well become Eastern Conference title contenders. For me, that's his only logical option."

At 42, James still has the ability to lead a team by himself. Recently, two of his former teammates—Richard Jefferson and Tristan Thompson—had a conversation about James's incredible professionalism.

When asked what professional habits he learned from James, Thompson said: "Be the ultimate professional, arrive early to the gym, take your craft seriously, and don't fool yourself."

Jefferson then added that people don't realize how hard James actually works: "It's really insane."

Recently, James has been working hard at playing golf and enjoying his vacation. Today, he went to a lakeside golf course in New Jersey. From the photos, you can see that his beard has turned gray.

Time, please slow down...
