3-for-3 swap! The Knicks are winning big! A championship-level blockbuster trade

Congratulations, congratulations.

OG Anunoby has officially topped the FMVP rankings, with Karl-Anthony Towns right behind him, Victor Wembanyama in third, and Jalen Brunson only in fourth.

Previously, the FMVP race was mostly discussed as a battle between Brunson and Towns, but unexpectedly OG emerged, and his momentum as a huge dark horse is unstoppable.

After four games of the Finals, the Knicks lead the Spurs 3-1, with Game 5 to be played in San Antonio.

During this stretch, OG has averaged a monstrous 23.8 points, 4 rebounds, 1 steal, and 1.5 blocks per game, with shooting splits of 58%, 56%, and 92%, a true shooting percentage of 78%, and 15 three-pointers made on 27 attempts.

NBA reporter Jake Weinbach stated:The Knicks acquiring OG is one of the most successful trades in franchise history.

During the 2023-24 season, the Knicks sent RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley, and a second-round pick to the Raptors in exchange for OG, Precious Achiuwa, and Malachi Flynn.

To get OG, they didn't hesitate to trade away Barrett, the 2019 third overall pick whom they had developed for four and a half seasons—a clear sign of how much they valued the former. True to expectations, OG has led the team within one step of this year's championship with impeccable performances.

OG has also become New York's new darling; the Manhattan Borough President declared June 11 as "Anunoby Day" to honor his iconic performance in Game 4 of the Finals.

Of course, the Knicks have also shown great recognition of OG financially. The two sides signed a five-year, $213 million contract extension two years ago, with the following annual salaries over the next three seasons:

2026-27 season: $42.5 million;

2027-28 season: $45.43 million;

2028-29 season: $48.36 million.

This "New York's self-developed Kawhi Leonard," now 28 years old, is likely to earn another lucrative contract in the near future.

It's worth noting that OG and Leonard were teammates during the Raptors' championship season (2018-19). However, as a sophomore, OG only played a rotational role and missed the entire playoffs that year due to an appendectomy, so his first ring was essentially a free ride. Now, the second ring he is about to claim comes as a core forward, making the two incomparable in terms of significance.

It must be said that countless examples prove that in high-stakes, nail-biting games, having a two-way wing is incredibly valuable—it's a must-have for any championship team.
