A record high of 15 billion views! Finals viewership records revealed, Knicks championship merchandise sells out.

On June 17th Beijing time, the NBA’s official social media released the viewership data for this year’s Finals, also noting that sales of Knicks championship merchandise set a new record.

According to reports, the Knicks vs. Spurs Finals achieved the highest viewership in 28 years, with an average of 20.6 million viewers on ABC and ESPN. Game 5, where the Knicks secured the title, averaged 24.5 million viewers, peaking at 33 million at the final moment—also a 28-year high for a Finals Game 5.

Additionally, overall playoff viewership across the league also hit a 28-year high, covering all broadcast channels including ABC, ESPN, Amazon Prime Video, NBC, and its streaming platform Peacock.

Furthermore, the 2026 NBA Finals between the New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs have generated 15 billion social media views and views, a record still rising, nearly tripling the previous high from 2025. Game 5-related content alone surpassed 4 billion views, exceeding the previous single-game record set in Game 4.

Within 24 hours of the Knicks’ Game 5 championship win, Fanatics recorded the highest merchandise sales across all sports for any championship team in its history. The 2026 NBA Finals also set comprehensive merchandise sales records across the NBA’s official store, Fanatics, team brick-and-mort, and third-party retail channels, doubling the previous high set during the 2020 Finals.
