The Bucks are having a fire sale! Turner and Kuzma will also be put on the trading block as Milwaukee enters a rebuilding phase.

On June 24th Beijing time, after trading away Giannis and Portis, the Milwaukee Bucks will begin a massive sell-off. This move effectively marks the team's shift toward rebuilding, and further trades will come in succession. According to HoopsHype reporter Michael Scotto, Myles Turner and Kyle Kuzma are both expected to be made available for trade.

Regarding Turner, the Hornets, Pelicans, and Lakers have previously shown interest in him, while the Celtics could acquire him to bolster their frontcourt. It is also reported that the Raptors will join the pursuit of Turner—compared to Jakob Poeltl, Turner is a more versatile rim-protecting center who has twice led the league in blocks.

If the NBA had not reformed the lottery system, it would have been much more difficult for the Bucks to offload one or both of Turner and Kuzma.

Turner is owed a total of $54.4 million over the next two seasons, with a player option worth $29.1 million for the 2028-29 season. Kuzma's contract expires next season, with an annual salary of $20.5 million.

However, the new lottery mechanism has almost upended traditional rebuilding logic. Now, rebuilding teams are more motivated to aim for a .500 winning percentage rather than deliberately tanking and losing heavily. A new arbitrage opportunity has emerged in the trade market: finding players who are decent but not good enough to lead a team to the playoffs. Turner and Kuzma exactly fit this category.

In his first season with the Bucks, Turner averaged 11.9 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks per game, remaining a reliable stretch big with a three-point percentage of 38.3%. Kuzma shot a career-high 49.2% from the field last season. Even if his performance regresses to his career average of 45.3%, he remains a dependable rebounder and secondary scorer.

The Bucks will find it difficult to obtain high-value returns by trading these two players. However, the team's primary goal is to reduce total salary, so they may be able to offload them without attaching many additional assets—something more important for the Bucks at this stage.

With Giannis's departure finalized and the aforementioned lottery rule changes, the Bucks cannot follow the familiar path to rebuild. Regardless, trading Turner and Kuzma is a logical next step after the blockbuster deal involving Giannis.
