Waiving Terry allows the team to sign one of them, but to bring in both players, the 76ers need to execute another move.

Another player on the roster with a non-guaranteed contract is Jabari Walker (strictly speaking, only $250,000 is partially guaranteed). The 76ers could choose to waive Walker to free up enough cap space to sign James and Caldwell-Pope, or they could seek a trade or waive Johnny Broom, whose $2.2 million cap hit is fully guaranteed. It is reported that if James were to accept a one-year minimum contract, he would take the 15th and final regular roster spot, and the team's total salary would still remain under the first apron hard cap. However, James' contract being for an extra year means his cap hit is close to $3.9 million, rather than about $2.5 million.
