Not safe enough by helicopter? Amtrak invites LeBron James to take the train: choose any seat for round trips to Philadelphia

On August 2, Beijing time, LeBron James officially joined the 76ers, marking what could be the last stretch of his illustrious NBA journey. The future Hall of Famer is unlikely to make Philadelphia his home. According to various reports, James intends to reside in New York and commute about 100 miles to each away game.

Earlier reports suggested that LeBron could take a helicopter, cutting the trip to about 45 minutes, but many media outlets and fans have expressed concerns over potential safety issues. Amtrak is ready to offer James a commuting solution to support his games with the 76ers.

The railway operator has recently posted multiple updates, urging James to choose their trains instead of helicopters. The official account even publicly called out on social media, inviting "The King" to pick any seat on the train. When the Lakers played road games in the East, they once took this operator's train between New York and Philadelphia.

Since signing with the 76ers, James has not publicly discussed his living arrangements, but sources indicate he will settle in New York. This decision is mainly driven by lifestyle considerations and aligns with long-standing rumors that James has always wanted to live in New York. According to Amtrak's schedule, a commuter train from Manhattan to Philadelphia takes about 1 hour and 25 minutes.

Lakers' current head coach JJ Redick, when he played for the 76ers in 2017, lived in Brooklyn and commuted regularly. James needs to finalize his daily travel plan, making a decision before the 2026-27 season starts, considering whether he wants to embark on a similar cross-city commuting lifestyle. Renowned journalist Brian Windhorst recently stated that living and playing in New York is a lifelong dream for James. Signing with Philadelphia gives him at least a chance to fulfill half of that dream.
