On March 24, Beijing time, Nikki, the ex-wife of Heat coach Eric Spoelstra, was recently caught in a storm of rumors that went viral on social media. Previously, the 38-year-old former Heat cheerleader was subjected to some malicious accusations against her involving the Heat's 24-year-old rising star Jaime Hakes.
There are rumors on social media that Nikki is having an affair with Jaime Harkes Jr., who averaged 8.6 points and 4.5 rebounds per game in his second season of his career. Some social media accounts accused her of having an inappropriate relationship with the 24-year-old small forward. The rumor stemmed from Nikki's comments and likes on multiple posts on Instagram.
The incident quickly fermented on the Internet, and Nikki had to respond directly to the matter. She broke her silence and issued a statement vehemently denying the allegations.
"When professional sporting events don't turn out as you want, you people give me too much 'power,'" she began, "and it's one thing for you sports fanatics to come to my page after I made a big life decision (referring to divorcing Spo). But it's another thing entirely because of a rumor, a completely 100% false rumor, that you're coming to my page to harass me and speak ill of me. ”
"I would never do such a thing because of this little rumor that you sports trolls have gone viral, and I don't think I need to explain it to you. In short, that doesn't happen, and it's not true. ”
"While the stories you made up with hypothetical plots might be interesting, they are full of holes, and to be honest, they are terrible."
Nikki went on to say that she had spoken to Harks' mother and his girlfriend, and that they were all caught up in the malicious rumor.
"So, while you're all entertaining yourself with the nonsense you've made up, I've talked to his girlfriend," she continued, "and I've talked to his mom too, and all three of us roll our eyes at you idiots. ”
Nikki made it clear that although she considers herself a public figure, it does not mean that anyone has the right to run to her page and speak ill of her, accusing her of these outrageous things.
Previously, according to the Miami Herald, Nikki and Spoelstra officially divorced in November 2023 after seven years of marriage. They released a joint statement in which the two stressed that they would "fully support their children" despite being separated.
The former couple had three children: Santiago, 6, Dante, 4, and Ruby, 2.
The Heat snapped a 10-game losing streak with a 122-105 win over the Hornets in today's game. Jaime Harkes Jr. played just five minutes and got one assist.
