The 21-year-old French player stated to L'Equipe, "I have officially been cleared for my return," in a story published on Monday, with ESPN and MySA.com confirming the Spurs have authorized Wembanyama's return for the next season.
"Wemby" was named the NBA Rookie of the Year in 2024 and was an NBA All-Star this past season, which concluded on February 20 when the team decided to shut him down after the shoulder injury was identified.
The 7-foot-3 (2.21m) center averaged 24.3 points, 11.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 3.8 blocks, and 1.1 steals per game over 46 games for the Spurs last season.
The NBA team had anticipated his return in time for the start of Spurs training camp in late September, but his recovery progressed much quicker than initially expected.
Wembanyama has spent the last few days in Las Vegas observing the Spurs' newest prospects competing in the NBA Summer League.
