Gumayusi is on the brink of achieving one of the most unique milestones in League of Legends history. Should he claim the Worlds 2026 title in the US with HLE, the Korean marksman can become the second player after Faker to win the world championship across all four major regions of League of Legends.
HLE just finished the group stage LCK 2026 with a convincing victory over T1, thereby securing second place and gaining positive momentum ahead of the Playoffs.
More importantly, HLE has secured a spot at Worlds 2026. This is also when Gumayusi turns his attention to an achievement that only Faker has accomplished in League of Legends history.
Worlds 2026 is being held in the US. If HLE lifts the championship, Gumayusi will complete his collection of Worlds titles in the four major regions of League of Legends.
Previously, Faker won the world championship in North America, Korea, Europe, and China. Gumayusi himself has also conquered three different regions with his former captain in recent seasons. Therefore, a title in the US would allow the HLE AD carry to join this special record group.
Gumayusi is not the only player still with a chance to replicate Faker's achievement.
If T1 qualifies for Worlds 2026, Oner and Keria could also aim for a similar milestone. The trio once won world championships with Faker in three different major regions over the previous three Worlds.
This makes Worlds 2026 even more special. Not only is the Summoner's Cup on the line, but the tournament could also witness a new historic milestone being set.
However, the path to the championship is certainly not easy.
In the recent victory over T1, Gumayusi showed an extremely calm and solid image. He minimized errors, maintained good positioning, and fulfilled his duties in critical teamfight situations.
This is the state that HLE needs from Gumayusi as they enter tense BO5 series. After the championship MSI 2026, HLE has proven its ability to compete with the strongest teams in the world.
If he continues to maintain his form and triumph in the US, Gumayusi will not only add another Worlds title but also step into a special territory, where currently only Faker stands ahead of him.
