This week, the King’s update announcement included a minor detail: the in-game performance of Burning Domination was optimized. Many players might be unclear about what this means. Actually, it’s a kind of indirect nerf — when you buy Burning Domination and its passive is active, a purple icon appears next to the player’s health bar experience frame, allowing opponents and teammates to anticipate and respond accordingly. King’s has many similar designs like this, and in this episode, I’ll summarize them for you.

Burning Domination

First is the Burning Domination just mentioned. Its level frame shows two symmetrical purple arcs with a purple droplet shape at the top, which is quite noticeable since the color stands out. However, don’t worry too much — with all the full-screen skill effects, it’s still hard to clearly see it.

Burning Domination is suitable for all spell heroes lacking self-protection, effectively preventing sudden deaths from surprise attacks. The key to using it well is managing your health, because if it drops below a certain threshold, the item automatically enters cooldown, giving the enemy an opening. So when poking, don’t stand too far forward to avoid losing too much status.

Mingdao and Yi Xing Passive

Next is the popular item Mingdao·Siming. Its level frame resembles Burning Domination’s with symmetrical arcs, but the color changes to blue and the top has a mountain-like icon design. This color is much softer. Yi Xing’s passive has the same effect, so it looks identical.

Many players build Mingdao, but its usage scenarios are quite limited because it only blocks one fatal hit. It’s better suited for duels or when the enemy deals single-hit damage. Against sustained damage heroes like Zhou Yu or Ailin, Mingdao’s effectiveness drops significantly; even if triggered, escaping death is unlikely. In such cases, other survival items are a better choice.

Revival Armor, Su Lie Passive, and Taiyi Ultimate

Then there’s the revival effect. Its level frame is yellow, with arcs thickening from bottom to top, forming a grass-like fork shape. Honestly, it’s quite noticeable — not just because of the bright color, but also the icon on the level frame is much larger. Taiyi Zhenren’s ultimate and Su Lie’s passive also share this revival effect, so their displays are exactly the same.

High-level players usually switch to Revival Armor instantly, which is simple but tests hand speed. Preparation is key: pre-purchase Revival Armor (ensure enough gold), then sell and close the equipment slot, and finally buy Revival Armor near the gold icon.

Yao Passive

Finally, there’s Yao’s passive, which is quite straightforward and well-known. It lasts half a year and is represented by wings in blue-white with a hint of purple, looking quite nice. Besides the level frame, Yao’s passive can also be identified by the little bird nearby, which changes element depending on the skin — for example, the Glory Collection skin features a mailbox-shaped bird.

Yao’s passive is very useful, helping teammates avoid some control effects, such as blocking Zhong Kui’s hook or Zhang Liang’s ultimate. This is a must-know skill when playing Yao. However, because it triggers so easily, even minor control effects activate it, so to truly avoid key crowd control, flexible positioning is still necessary.
