Hello everyone, I’m Game Brother Xiao.
In Honor of Kings, after reaching Diamond rank, draft mode is enabled, allowing players to ban or pick heroes. When you reach King rank, every player can ban one hero. I noticed that many players often choose to ban Zhuang Zhou, and this is consistent across almost all ranks.
According to official data, Zhuang Zhou currently holds the highest ban rate in every rank. Across all tiers, his ban rate is 60.7% with a win rate of 51.1%; in peak matches above 1350 points, his ban rate is 55.8% and win rate is only 48.9%; in top-tier ranked matches, his ban rate reaches 60.6% with a win rate of 50.1%.
From the data, it’s clear that Zhuang Zhou has a very high ban rate but his win rate is not outstanding, especially in peak matches where it’s somewhat low. So why is such a hero, who isn’t considered very strong, repeatedly banned by players?
Talking about Zhuang Zhou, one must mention his unique ability — group purification. Almost all heroes in the game have crowd control effects. Sometimes, to initiate team fights, players prefer picking heroes with control abilities. Zhuang Zhou’s ultimate perfectly counters this, which makes it very frustrating for opponents.
Keep in mind, typical strong initiators like Su Lie or Lian Po need to get close to use their ultimates. If Zhuang Zhou nullifies these effects, not only is the control lost, but these initiators get stuck in the crowd without an escape, often getting focused down and killed, turning them into a “team wipe trigger.”
It’s also quite hard to take down Zhuang Zhou early because besides his ultimate’s group cleanse, his first skill also removes control effects. Plus, his passive grants him a super armor effect every 6 seconds, making him almost uncontrollable. Usually playing support with tanky builds, Zhuang Zhou has good durability and some damage reduction in his skills. So while it’s not hard to chip away his health, instantly bursting him down is very difficult.
Moreover, if you face Zhuang Zhou alone, his second skill stacks can deal terrifying damage. Most heroes don’t have a big advantage in 1v1 against him. Therefore, the simplest and most effective way is just to ban him, saving trouble.
That’s all for today. If you liked it, please give a thumbs up. If you have any questions, comments, or want to see something else, leave a message in the comments — I’ll be sure to read them all!
