With the S15 qualifiers approaching, a netizen recently posted T1’s ADC Gumayusi’s career champion pick frequency and win rate rankings. Aphelios tops the list with 64 games and a 64% win rate, while Senna holds the best win rate at 77% over 39 games. However, among the top 12, one champion’s numbers stand out awkwardly — little Rumble Kaisa has been chosen 28 times but only won 36% of those matches.
It seems that “Auntie” doesn’t play Kaisa, Ezreal, or Zeri well — this is not a rumor. His Zeri pick count is actually quite high, 31 games ranking ninth, but the win rate is only 55%. As for Ezreal, a fundamental AD carry champion, he doesn’t even appear in the top 12. Among all AD players worldwide, he is quite unique in this regard. It remains to be seen if these three champions might become a major factor in this year’s qualifiers when T1 faces IG.
In the BO5 between IG and T1, realistically, IG’s chances aren’t very high. But LPL fans definitely want IG to win. While everyone was cheering for IG, Doinb suddenly poured cold water: “I think IG can’t beat T1, that’s a fact.” When fans asked him not to say that, Doinb retorted: “Can’t even speak the truth? Anyway, they’re already eliminated, and I’m not embarrassed to lose matches.”
Then Doinb went on to say: “T1 at Worlds will show you why they are the ‘dads’ of the LPL. Even BLG, the LPL’s number one seed, might not be able to beat T1, who are the fourth seed in the LCK, let alone IG.” Although his words are bluntly honest, as the LPL’s champion mid laner, not only did he not cheer for his own region, but he also took a jab. It’s a bit hard to understand, especially since last year he claimed Faker’s Sylas wasn’t as good as his own play — that’s still fresh in memory.
Because the World Championship is held domestically, players have been training on the Summit Ladder recently. BLG’s top laner Bin changed his in-game ID to “world’s number one top.” However, he was repeatedly crushed in ranked games with scores like 0-7. Many BLG fans explained that ON changed the ID for him and Bin didn’t mean it himself. But in a recent interview, Bin clarified: the ID was indeed changed by himself.
The reason Bin chose the “world’s number one top” ID was simply because he found it amusing. Additionally, Bin said in the interview: He hopes BLG will eventually become a team that wins the World Championship. Honestly, if the LPL wants to win this year, it seems BLG is the best hope. The gap between them and the LCK teams appears to be the smallest among the four LPL teams. He hopes BLG performs well and achieves the championship.
Recently, foreign media collaborated with 12 people including official LPL commentators, streamers, and former pros to select a top player list for Worlds. After consolidation, the top three spots were swept by GEN’s mid, top, and bot laners. BLG’s top and mid laners ranked fourth and sixth respectively, while AL’s jungler Tarzan was fifth. Among the top ten, only these three LPL players made the list; the rest came from GEN, HLE, and T1.
Among the four LPL teams, BLG had everyone except the jungler on the list. T1’s AD carry and jungler also appeared on the list. AL and IG had the fewest representatives, each with only one player. IG’s Gazi was ranked 15th, while their top and mid laners were nowhere to be found. This selection is actually quite objective, as even Faker was ranked only 20th. The judges seemed to give some respect to the five-time champion; otherwise, Faker might not have made the top 20.
Doinb does have some conflict with Rookie, but it’s not to the extent of dissing a same-region team before the match. Doinb has retired and become a streamer; if he lowered his tone and praised IG, he might even gain some attention from IG fans. However, his feud with “Roach” seems irreconcilable, probably aiming to ride the wave of IG’s negative publicity.
So, do you think little Rumble’s champion pool will become a key factor?
