Following the semifinals of the League of Legends S15 World Championship, Riot refreshed the all-time World Championship kills ranking. Faker, who reached the finals, accumulated 78 kills this year, pushing his total kills to 584, well ahead of second-ranked Chidi. Despite Ruler’s exit in the semifinals, he managed 82 kills this year, overtaking Uzi and Deft and moving up from fourth to second place on the list.

There is still a 167 kill gap between Ruler and Faker. Since Faker will continue playing in the finals, it’s unlikely that Ruler will ever catch up. After securing 87 kills, Little Lu Bu’s total kills reached 355, surpassing Uzi and ranking fourth on the leaderboard. If this momentum continues, Big Egg has a strong chance in the next two years to surpass Ruler and become the second highest kill leader in history after Faker.

There have been rumors about two LPL teams planning to withdraw from the league next year. According to leaks, four teams want to quit, but since the league only allows a limited number of exits each year, probably only two will leave. Previously, Hanyi mentioned FPX and RNG as the most likely candidates. Recently, Zhu Kai disclosed during a livestream that according to his sources, RNG and FPX definitely won’t exist next year.

Zhu Kai said FPX applied to leave last year, but since the quota was full, their exit was postponed to this year. As for RNG, their slot was repurchased by the league, though some clubs are interested in taking over RNG, possibly with a name change. Both teams have suffered heavy losses in recent years—RNG due to their own mistakes, and FPX due to bad luck. After winning the championship, FPX didn’t receive much official support, and following the Bo incident, they never recovered.

After Top Esports was eliminated in the semifinals, the team went on break. Recently, JKL started streaming to pass the time. During the stream, he defended Kanavi, saying: “If you want to criticize, go ahead, but don’t stir up drama.” JKL also revealed transfer window rules consistent with previous leaks: players whose contracts expire enter a pool for bidding; if a player refuses to join the team that wins the bid, they face a six-month suspension starting from the third stage.

During the stream, JKL also addressed retirement rumors: He’s unsure if he will play next year; if things don’t work out, he’ll take a break. When discussing retirement, he mentioned that since he doesn’t know who his future teammates will be, he’ll likely decide based on the roster. If the lineup isn’t good, he will retire; if it is, he plans to play another year. For now, his priority is to visit the hospital to treat an ear issue.

GEN, the favorite to win this year’s Worlds, unexpectedly lost to KT and stopped at the semifinals. Chovy tends to falter in crucial matches, seeming destined never to be a world champion. However, the blame can’t be placed solely on the mid laner; the coach’s draft strategy failed to prioritize mid lane, repeatedly picking champions like Galio and Anivia, which don’t suit an aggressive playstyle. The coach really should be replaced.

GEN’s roster likely won’t see major changes next year. According to rumors on Korean forums, three uncle and Duro have renewed their contracts, so the entire squad will probably compete together for another year. Both Chidi and Chovy have contracts through 2027. If the jungler and support renew, Kiin is unlikely to leave either. With a coaching change, this lineup still has championship potential. Redmi wants to return to LCK, but it’s unclear if GEN will consider him.

This winter transfer window will definitely be lively, as most players’ contracts expire. It’s unknown whether the league will hold a live auction event like the “Old Head Cup.” If so, it will be exciting to watch. Top players will only gather in strong teams next year, which is one of the league’s strategies to foster championship contenders.
So, what do you think? Should GEN change their coach?
