With the new LPL season on the horizon, many commentators have been forecasting team rankings during live broadcasts. Notably, renowned LPL caster Miller claimed that only BLG qualifies as an S+ tier team this season. If BLG cannot clinch a world championship, then their year will be seen as a failure. Other LPL teams at best qualify as S-tier, and some, like TES with JKL and domestic powerhouse JDG and WBG, don’t even reach the S level.

Miller’s comments have sparked heated debates among many LPL fans, with some believing BLG’s strength is greatly overrated. After all, BLG failed to even enter the knockout stage of the Demacia Cup without their mid laner Left Hand. However, many others agree with Miller’s prediction, noting that the new LOL season’s patch changes suit BLG’s players well. The buff to top lane teleport has raised expectations for BIN’s leadership, and the current meta allows AD carries to farm gold very quickly, which benefits top AD players like Viper. Many BLG fans are confident that BLG will make new history in the LPL this season.

Some LPL commentators disagree that BLG deserves S+ status. For example, caster Jide openly stated during a live stream that BLG has “weaknesses and gaps.” Using the Demacia Cup as an example, if BLG were truly strong, they wouldn’t have failed to reach the knockout stage without four main players. Jide also qualified his remarks by saying that no LPL team currently meets the S+ standard, and there remains a significant gap between LPL and LCK teams. (Do you think LPL can win a BO5 against LCK this year? Last year they didn’t win any.)

Although BLG enjoys a good reputation according to Miller, their AD player Viper is Korean. Therefore, many fans are curious which AD player the LPL region will send to represent them at the Asian Games this year. Recently, IMP reviewed the strengths of various LPL AD players during a live stream, stating that only GALA and JKL have strong enough skills, while the rest of the LPL ADs are not up to par.

IMP also believes that JKL has a higher chance of being selected for the Asian Games than GALA, because GALA sometimes has minor issues in lane, whereas JKL’s laning skills are considerably stronger. Many viewers also asked IMP to evaluate ELK’s abilities, and IMP said ELK is the most overrated player in the LPL. ELK is not the strongest either in lane or team fights, so it makes sense that Viper replaced him this year.

During the live stream, IMP gave sharp critiques of the AD players’ performances but did not comment on players in other positions. Who do you think will be chosen for top lane, jungle, mid lane, and support at this Asian Games? Personally, if BLG performs exceptionally well in the first half of the season, the BLG and JKL combo could realistically contend for the Asian Games championship. However, since JKL will not be playing in the first split, it’s uncertain how that might affect his future performance.
