Two top LPL teams stumble! AL faces major issues, Xiaohu plays unbelievably, BLG comfortably takes the lead

Hello to all LPL fans and League of Legends summoners, this is Tianxia Game Report.

Yesterday, the LPL peak group played two matches, and in both, the teams favored by viewers were upset. AL lost a fierce three-game battle to JDG, and WBG suffered a shocking defeat to TES.

These two match outcomes have directly influenced the current standings and dynamics of the LPL region.

Xiaohu hits a new low, becoming the team's weak link

The first match was between WBG and TES, which turned into a chaotic battle resembling a hospital ward. In the first game, with ten players on the field, there was almost no sign of normal play—everyone was just messing around. TES’s support Tahm Kench wildly got lost in the jungle, dying repeatedly, while WBG also made numerous mistakes.

First, the jungler, Cream, greedily tried to kill two low-health enemies in the bot lane but failed to secure any kill and ended up dying himself. Then the top laner used his ultimate to forcibly interrupt Qiyana’s recall, leaving the audience stunned as Poppy’s ultimate, which has a long cooldown, was wasted just to stop the enemy from returning to base.

Then came our main character—the three-time champion Xiaohu, playing Syndra with a 3-1 scoreline. With his teammates’ help, he farmed well and was expected to lead the team’s rhythm, but instead, he made a disastrous mid-lane teleport play that cost his team a kill.

The second game evened the score, but Xiaohu’s performance remained poor. Ryze was underwhelming, and in the third game, Xiaohu tried to step up again with Ahri in mid lane. However, he repeatedly walked into bushes and got charmed, twice in a row, leaving his teammates stunned. Combined with his previous absurd R-flash plays on Cassiopeia against BLG, Xiaohu has completely become the team’s bottleneck. WBG was swiftly defeated by TES.

AL’s major problems explode, Tabe defeats his former team

Next was the matchup between AL and JDG, marking Tabe’s first face-off against his former protégé. Tabe came out on top, as AL clearly struggled to adapt to the new meta, revealing many issues. The team, once highly anticipated by fans, now looks unlikely to achieve good results in this first phase.

In the first game, AL was completely overwhelmed. Saint’s laning was dominated, Tarzan’s Qiyana lost control and went 0-6, and Kael’s Alistar made initiation errors, allowing JDG to easily secure the first point.

Though Tarzan bounced back explosively with Poppy in the second game, AL’s signature jungle-support strategy crushed JDG. Despite HongQ securing a solo kill, they couldn’t turn the tide and eventually lost after a drawn-out 40-minute battle.

The final deciding game became a solo showcase for Yagao’s Sylas. From the start, Xiaoxu’s Sylas was elusive, scoring a 1v2 kill on Saint early on and dominating team fights with near-perfect ultimate usage. Junjia also played a crucial role by stealing Baron. Eventually, Xiaoxu transformed into a godlike figure, leading JDG to a decisive victory and handing AL their second consecutive loss.

LPL hierarchy shifts, BLG comfortably claims first place

After these two matches, BLG stands atop the LPL without pressure, remaining the only undefeated team in the region. Other teams, like IG and TES, were initially thought to be weaker, especially TES, whose bot lane had previously performed poorly, leading many to believe they might not win a single game. But WBG stepped up.

Xiaohu, with his utterly inhuman plays, helped TES secure their first victory and has become one of the most discussed mid laners currently.

In my opinion, Xiaohu has made numerous low-level mistakes across two consecutive matches, giving off the impression of a veteran nearing retirement. Previously, Yagao showed similar signs at the end of his career and eventually chose to retire early. Could Xiaohu be reaching that stage too?

Of course, some fans still hope Xiaohu will have a breakthrough after the spring split begins, so we will continue to watch his performance closely.

Regarding AL, as many have pointed out before, the current meta reduces the impact of jungle and support roles while emphasizing laning skills. However, Saint and Hope seem to be struggling to maintain form, and the team’s core carry ability is lacking, causing a significant drop in overall strength.
