LPL's star mid-laner awakens! Knight goes on a rampage, IG falls victim, BLG proves unstoppable

Greetings to all LPL viewers and League of Legends summoners, this is Tianxia Game Hub.

Yesterday, the LPL Peak Group featured two matches, one of which was a grudge match between BLG and IG. Wei, now IG’s jungler, previously played for BLG.

In the end, BLG comfortably swept the match 2-0, achieving their fourth straight victory to kick off the season.

The star mid-laner awakens, IG becomes the victim

Last year, BLG made many changes to their jungler position, sparking talk of a honeymoon phase where switching junglers leads to a burst of performance. Initially, they let go of Wei, who later joined IG and performed well. At the start of this year’s Demacia Cup, Wei was one of IG’s strongest carries.

In the BLG vs. IG match, both teams fought fiercely to prove themselves. However, IG was almost shattered upon facing a nearly full-strength BLG and was easily crushed by their opponents.

In the first game, IG targeted mid-laner Knight early, with Wei securing a kill by flashing and Q through a wall. But soon after, Xun and his teammates invaded the jungle to fight Wei. IG’s reinforcements arrived, resulting in a two-for-two trade. The match was still even at this point, but then IG’s situation collapsed rapidly as bad news came from top and mid lanes: Rookie was solo killed, and Soboro also fell in a solo duel.

Top laner Bin completely dominated his opponent, killing him once and then again. Despite being at a disadvantage, Wei led another jungle invasion but was caught by BLG, who easily took down two players. The game lost suspense early on, and what was expected to be a one-sided match only got worse for IG in the second game.

Knight goes berserk, BLG proves truly invincible

The first game ended with a score of 6 to 18. In the second game, Knight picked Akali and began his legendary performance. IG’s bottom lane secured an early kill, while Xun caught Soboro on the top lane. In the subsequent dragon fight, BLG took the initiative to kill two opponents, but Soboro’s Yahang exploded, taking down two in a 1v4.

However, IG did not anticipate that after Soboro’s two kills, they would fail to secure any more takedowns for the rest of the game.

Once Knight was fully farmed, he flashed in from the top lane side and executed a smooth combo to solo kill Rookie. With Akali’s upgraded Hextech Gunblade, his kill potential was extremely high. Later, he went on a killing spree again on the top lane, solo killing Soboro and forcing Yahang to spend his flash on death.

BLG’s subsequent attacks were unstoppable, finishing with a kill score of 20 to 3, and taking the series 2-0 against IG.

After the match, Knight was named MVP of the BO3 series, boasting an incredible 8-0-6 stat line. In his last five small matches, Knight’s record stands at 47 kills, 5 deaths, and 54 assists—truly terrifying. Currently, Knight can almost single-handedly dominate any LPL team with overwhelming superiority. This is the ace mid-laner of the LPL.

Form is improving steadily, Viper becomes the beneficiary

The funniest part was BLG’s post-match voice chat, where Viper kept praising his teammates’ plays, calling them amazing. Knight replied, "Of course, he’s the one making the plays." Viper probably didn’t expect to become the beneficiary of easy wins after joining the LPL. Happiness came unexpectedly.

It’s worth noting that when Viper first joined BLG last year for the Demacia Cup, BLG suffered some surprising losses to less strong teams, and Viper’s performance was questioned. Even at the start of this year’s league, BLG’s gameplay was not very impressive.

However, after the first match, BLG improved with each game, and Viper grew increasingly comfortable.

In my opinion, the main reason BLG is performing better and better is because the players’ confidence has returned. Their initial match against WBG was very cautious, opting for a late-game strategy. As they faced other opponents, their form gradually recovered, and by this match against IG, they reached an astonishing level.

The key factor behind the players’ regained confidence is the team’s adjustment after changing coaches. Daeny helped BLG fix long-standing issues and corrected their playstyle. Given the talent of BLG’s players, achieving good results is only natural.
