Completely exploded after leaving Faker! GUMA keeps holding the team back, even worse than Kanavi, HLE is in luck

Hello to all LPL viewers and League of Legends summoners, this is World Game Report.

There’s been plenty of excitement in this year’s LCK region, and currently most of it centers on a team named HLE, because they brought in Kanavi and Gumayusi during the transfer period, and their shocking performances have drawn more eyes.

Yesterday, HLE finally secured their first win of the first split by defeating BRO in a hard-fought three-game series.

LCK’s showdown of stars, Gumayusi repeatedly dies in succession

In the LCK group stage, HLE was supposed to be one of the strongest teams in the Elder Dragon group and expected to earn many points there. However, they lost their first two matches to T1 and NS. Losing to T1 was somewhat acceptable, but losing to NS was unexpected. Yesterday, HLE faced BRO, the lowest-ranked team in the Elder Dragon group, who also started with two losses.

Normally, with HLE’s strength, they should have easily crushed their opponents. Instead, yesterday’s match turned into a battle of individual stars. LPL viewers have seen too many such star battles recently and hoped to enjoy some fresh gameplay in LCK, but this match also featured star clashes, and the level of absurdity was quite high.

In the first two games, HLE’s performance had fans calling it a star showdown. In the opening match, HLE repeatedly targeted the “AI mid laner” Roamer, gaining an advantage. Then Kanavi on the Prince made a mistake in the jungle, getting caught by river crabs. When the enemy top laner Renekton approached and chose to fight head-on, then retreated while being heavily damaged, teammate Zeus had to use his flash to save him successfully.

Next came Gumayusi’s Varus show, who kept dying to the enemy Orianna and Nocturne combo. The most ridiculous moment was when he solo dove a tower in mid lane, getting killed by Pantheon’s ultimate jump. Later, during a siege on the inhibitor, he was focused down, flashed forward, and died in a failed fight.

Consistently dragging the team down, even worse than Kanavi

Kanavi also greedily went for the Elder Dragon camp again. In a mid-lane fight with low health, he stubbornly took the Elder Dragon, amusing the commentators. Ultimately, HLE won the team fight thanks to Zeus initiating on the double carries, ending the game with that push.

If the first game’s performance from HLE was acceptable, the second game’s showing from Gumayusi and Kanavi was hard to justify. Gumayusi picked Yone, a damage champion often criticized as difficult for him to play well, and his actual performance proved those criticisms right.

He was repeatedly targeted early in lane, getting dove under tower for a 0-3 start, then struggled in lane and trades with the opponent’s ADC, eventually getting solo killed. Later, he made a catastrophic mistake by overextending on a flank, dying and taking teammates down with him.

The bottom lane kept dying repeatedly, while Zeka on Rakan played like a team leader, solo killing the AI mid laner and helping teammates secure kills, roaming to support all three lanes and especially saving bottom lane multiple times to stabilize the situation. Kanavi on Aatrox was also performing poorly, stealing the Elder Dragon with low health only to be killed by Xin Zhao, then recklessly invading the jungle and using his E skill recklessly, allowing the enemy Nidalee to initiate and kill him instantly with teammate assistance.

After leaving Faker, the three-time champion has completely fallen apart

After teammates struggled to regain control of the game, Gumayusi once again died by overextending on a flank. In the third game, Homme seemed to realize something and gave Gumayusi Rell to play, which led to an easier victory. With the score tied early on, a single Elder Dragon team fight decided the match.

Delight’s signature tank support Alistar initiated by knocking up three enemies, Kanavi followed by charging the Rift Herald into two opponents and applying crowd control, allowing HLE to secure a team wipe, take a solid lead, and steadily snowball to close out the game.

After the match, Gumayusi’s absurd performance drew heavy criticism from spectators. Since leaving Faker, Gumayusi’s form has clearly dropped sharply. Compared to last year’s Zeus, who dominated the league in the first split, Gumayusi has now shown his true colors after three games, lacking the strong carry ability for the team.

Personally, I believe HLE currently faces major issues as a team. The players lack cohesion and teamwork, giving the impression they fight individually. Gumayusi’s recent poor form is partly due to insufficient team synergy and partly due to his own playstyle. He is not a stable core AD who can consistently carry the team; he needs a strong system to maximize his strength. However, T1’s system was already top-tier, and Gumayusi’s days at HLE look tough. Their next match against GEN looks especially challenging.
