VCTCN: Kangkang's triple kill in overtime breaks through the defense, EDG defeats TYL 2-0

In the second round of the winners' bracket at the 2026 VCTCN Kickoff, EDG defeated TYL 2-0 and will go on to face XLG in the winners' bracket semifinals.

Map 1: Abyssal Cavern

Attackers EDG: Yōuyǐng, Lièxiāo, Yèlù, Jiéfēng, Xīngtú

Defenders TYL: Jìnmiè, Huànléng, Lièxiāo, Xīngtú, Yèlù
In the first half, EDG pushed the lower A site; Tianlu lost four players, leaving Slowly who, with three shots from Justice, pulled off a triple kill. In round 3, EDG smoked and rushed the site, bursting through to eliminate Tianlu’s entire defense. Round 5 was an ECO round for Tianlu, holding A with Justice; Smoggy’s Yōuyǐng ulted to rotate to B, and although Splash’s rotation won a fight, the defuse was delayed, allowing EDG to score three rounds in a row. In round 7, EDG saved money, and Kangkang’s Hurricane blade rushed through smoke mid, tearing apart Tianlu’s defense. Kangkang and cb then executed a flawless retake on B. Round 8 saw Erv’s Justice secure a triple kill leading the team to a comeback. In round 12, Tianlu attempted to retake A after planting, but Kangkang’s Míngjū triple kill prevented entry. The first half ended with EDG leading Tianlu 8-4.

In the second half, Kangkang, Qiuqiu, and cb went on a rampage. In round 14, Qiuqiu held B alone with a triple kill. Round 16 saw Qiuqiu become a turret, taking down four at B, then winning the final clutch, as EDG secured a three-round streak to close out Abyssal Cavern 13-5.

Map 2: Source Stronghold

Attackers EDG: Neptune, Black Dream, Phoenix, Raze, Viper

Defenders TYL: Viper, Raze, Titanium Fox, Inferno, Skye

The first half started with cb scoring triple kills in two consecutive rounds, leading the team to win the pistol round. In round 4, EDG executed a pincer attack on B, and Tianlu cleared the upper floor of B quickly, but Qiuqiu won the final clutch with a triple kill. In round 10, Splash’s Míngjū shut down EDG’s B push, and when EDG rotated to lower A, Tianlu ambushed and eliminated them. Tianlu then went on a seven-round winning streak. EDG struggled to deal with Splash’s Míngjū throughout the first half, resulting in disorganized attacks. Tianlu led 8-4 at halftime.

In the second half, EDG won the pistol round, then Splash’s Justice secured a four-kill to spark a comeback. In round 15, Tianlu made mistakes allowing EDG to seize the opportunity to turn the tide. In round 18, Kangkang and cb coordinated as Míngjū in the bathroom took down three, leading EDG to four consecutive rounds. The match was intensely close. In round 23, Slowly used smoke to get two kills, and despite Tianlu lacking duelists, they still found a chance to push the site. EDG’s defense, down two versus three, had no room to maneuver. In round 24, Tianlu’s attack time was heavily suppressed; a final rush was stopped by EDG in a chaotic fight. In overtime, EDG scored two straight rounds to win Source Stronghold 14-12.
