On this Spring Festival, many LPL players shared holiday wishes with fans through their personal accounts. For instance, MSI double crown jungler WEI handwrote the character for “fortune,” and ELK, recognized as the top AD of the first LPL split, distributed 20,000 yuan in red envelopes to devoted fans. Additionally, LPL champion jungler Xiaotian creatively took on the roles of “horse head” and “pig head” to deliver festive greetings to viewers. (It must be said that Xiaotian’s creativity is quite impressive.)

Besides LPL players, many LCK players also extended their greetings to fans and audiences during the Spring Festival. For example, the entire T1 team released a video wishing their Chinese fans a happy new year. Among these greetings, T1’s mid laner Faker’s New Year message sparked much discussion. Before sending his wishes, Faker apologized to fans, admitting that T1’s loss to BFX was due to poor form and promised to learn from it and focus seriously on future matches. Many viewers felt moved by Faker’s words, especially since he clearly shouldn’t bear the main responsibility for T1’s defeat to FBX.

In my opinion, the main reason T1 lost to BFX was their ban-pick strategy. Even BFX’s key player Diable pointed out the coaching staff’s issues in a post-match interview. He said T1’s coaches were very afraid of intense fights in the bot lane, which led them to ban many soft support champions during the draft. But the more T1 feared lane clashes, the more BFX chose strong combos to confront them head-on. Diable also expressed regret about the BO5 result, believing BFX had a chance to finish the series 3-0.

Contrasting with the festive group greetings, this year mid laner Haichao, who recently transferred to OMG, posted a gloomy message late at night during the Spring Festival. Haichao confessed feeling lost about the future. He dropped out of school at 14 to start working, joined LDL youth training at 16, and only reached the top LPL league at 19. Now at 22, he feels he has no achievements and has been constantly accused of “throwing games” by LPL fans throughout his career.

It must be said that Haichao does have a certain level of fame in the LPL. He once had a famous moment “solo killing Knight,” and LPL commentators and fans often compare him to LCK’s top mid laner Chovy, leading to the saying “LCK has Chovy, LPL has Haichao.” However, this attention sharply contrasts with his rather thin competitive record. Over many years, he has only made the playoffs once and has never appeared in the LPL promotion tournament.

Haichao’s current situation is indeed awkward. When he was with LGD, many fans called him the “team dean” and China’s “Chovy.” Because of this, when he transferred to LNG last year, many expected LNG to rise. Unexpectedly, the heavily invested Haichao failed to improve LNG’s results, and the team even dropped to the bottom of the league. After joining OMG this year, he still hasn’t worked miracles and was heavily criticized by many LPL fans after being repeatedly dominated by ROOKIE in the qualifiers. (Do you think Haichao can become a representative figure of the LPL in the future?)
