On July 4th, Beijing time, the second day of the 2026 Mid-Season Invitational knockout stage featured a highly anticipated clash between LPL's top seed BLG and LCK's second seed T1! The draft strategies in this best-of-five series were exceptionally intricate. In the first game, BLG opted for a double AP composition with Jayce, but it failed to deliver the expected results. In the second game, Knight's unbeatable Swain dominated team fights, leveling the score. In the third game, Knight's Ryze solo-killed Faker's Annie in the laning phase, gaining momentum. BLG ultimately won the series 3-2 and will face LCS's top seed LYON in the next round of the winners' bracket.
Game 1

T1: Yorick, Vi, Cassiopeia, Jhin, Nautilus
BLG: Jayce, Poppy, Viktor, Ziggs, Shen
In the early game, all three T1 lanes held lane priority. After both bot lanes recalled, Keria's Nautilus and ON's Shen roamed mid to disrupt each other's farming. At the 4-minute mark, ON's Shen won a mind game by using his E taunt to force Faker's Cassiopeia's Flash. However, during the skirmish for the Rift Scuttler in the top river, Cassiopeia single-handedly blocked BLG's mid and support, landing a fatal W (Miasma) to trap Shen. ON's Shen, distracted while focusing on his teammates, was caught, giving Cassiopeia first blood.

For the first neutral objective in the jungle, T1 chose the Voidgrubs, while BLG took the first dragon as a trade. At the 11-minute mark, T1's jungler and support invaded BLG's top jungle. Shen used his ultimate to land and forced out Nautilus's Flash, then used an E-Flash taunt to catch Oner's Vi, allowing BLG to eliminate him. Ziggs then solo-destroyed T1's top lane outer turret. Doran's Yorick pushed a minion wave in the top lane with no outer tower, while Bin's Jayce chased him, attempting a solo kill. However, Peyz's Jhin arrived to support Yorick, using his ultimate to help secure the kill. BLG's jungle and support tried to enter the river for dragon vision but were deterred by Cassiopeia's double-target poke, allowing T1 to take the dragon safely.
Doran's Yorick swapped to the bottom lane but was targeted by BLG twice. Although he died twice, T1's reinforcements arrived in time for the second death. BLG's mid and jungle failed to escape, resulting in a 2-for-2 trade for T1, who then secured the Rift Herald and destroyed BLG's top lane outer turret. Before the Baron spawned, T1 gave up Nautilus to secure the Chemtech Drake. All three of BLG's outer turrets fell, and the gold was even.

In the mid game, BLG pushed back and destroyed T1's mid lane outer turret. However, Xun's Poppy, while alone invading T1's bottom jungle, was spotted by Faker's Cassiopeia. Jhin's long-range ultimate, his fourth shot, precisely sniped Poppy. With their jungler down, BLG could only watch as T1 secured the Baron. T1 executed a split-push strategy with Cassiopeia pushing mid solo. BLG's mid and support successfully ganked and killed her, also taking a Chemtech Drake. Both teams reset and met in the Baron river for a skirmish. BLG initiated a 0-for-3 fight and started Baron. However, T1's duo carries performed miraculous kiting and outplays. They first eliminated the interfering Shen. Seeing Baron had reduced BLG's health to critical levels, Jhin used his ultimate to secure the fourth shot kill on Jayce. Although the remaining three BLG members claimed the Baron, Viktor had no mana, rendering him ineffective, and Oner's Vi respawned and returned. BLG suffered a team wipe and could not retain the Baron buff.
Both teams managed their side lane waves and then clashed for mid lane priority. BLG forced out Jhin's summoner spells. Vi sacrificed himself in a trade with Poppy. T1 reset, healed, and aggressively invaded BLG's jungle, forcing BLG to retreat. T1 quickly took the Baron. BLG, overzealous and unwilling to concede, chased T1 into their jungle. BLG's mid and jungle became separated from the other three, scattering their formation. T1 defeated them piecemeal, securing a 0-for-5 ace and ending the game in one push, taking a 1-0 lead!
Game 2

BLG: Renekton, Naafiri, Swain, Ezreal, Bard
T1: Ambessa, Lee Sin, Galio, Kai'Sa, Camille
In the early game, BLG had lane advantage in top and bot, with mid lane CS being even. Although ON's Bard used a precise Q to force Keria's Camille to half HP, forcing a recall, and Xun's Naafiri anticipated and responded to Camille's first top lane roam, Bin's Renekton still chose to push aggressively. Oner's Lee Sin, after clearing Krugs, ganked top from behind, securing first blood on Renekton.

With BLG's top lane continuously pressuring, T1's Galio in mid had difficulty ganking. Thus, Xun's Naafiri frequently pressured T1's bottom lane, killing Camille twice consecutively and securing the first dragon. T1 quickly adjusted by swapping lanes. Doran's Ambessa moved to the bottom lane to face Viper's Ezreal. Bard roamed top but found no opportunity. Meanwhile, Ambessa in the bottom lane used a combo to reduce Ezreal's HP and then dove the tower to eliminate him. This allowed T1 to secure the Cloud Drake, while BLG took T1's bottom lane outer turret as a trade.
Bin's Renekton swapped to the bottom lane and used his ultimate to chase Camille. However, T1's reinforcements arrived promptly. BLG had to abort the chase, conceding the Cloud Drake. They then rotated top for a 3-man dive, killing Ambessa to mitigate losses. Before Baron spawned, T1 also executed a 3-man dive on Renekton in the bottom lane. This escalated into a full-scale team fight. Knight's Swain ulted and dominated the battle, landing a critical E (Nevermove) that caught three T1 members and secured a triple kill. This led BLG to a 1-for-4 victory in a 4v5 fight after Renekton fell early, gaining massive momentum!

In the mid game, T1 continued to focus Bin's Renekton. They grouped top to kill BLG's top and support, then turned to attempt the Baron. However, BLG, relying on their unstoppable Swain, fought 3v5 and secured a 0-for-2 trade. Ezreal and Bard chased and killed Lee Sin above the Baron pit. BLG then took over the Baron! In this game, Peyz's Kai'Sa had a poor team fight position. Even securing a solo kill on Viper's Ezreal in the mid lane couldn't change T1's team fight disadvantage. T1 was forced to defend their high ground and delay the game. At the 27-minute mark, Faker's Galio, while clearing waves outside the top lane inhibitor turret, was caught in a pincer by BLG. He and the Camille who tried to cover his retreat both fell. BLG pushed in for a one-swing game end. After falling behind 0-1, they stabilized their mentality and crushed T1 in team fights to tie the series 1-1!
Game 3

T1: Aatrox, Wukong, Annie, Senna, Leona
BLG: Jax, Qiyana, Ryze, Vel'Koz, Alistar
At the start, Knight's Ryze was very successful in lane, while Faker's Annie's poke was mostly ineffective. Ryze hit level 4, used Flash to chase and force Annie's Flash. Seeing Oner's Wukong flanking from behind, Annie landed a stun but was killed by Ryze for first blood. Wukong then killed Ryze. Ryze recalled to buy a Catalyst of Aeons. With significantly increased tankiness, he returned to lane and continued to pressure Annie.

Before Faker's Annie's Flash came off cooldown, she was again killed by BLG's mid, jungle, and support. T1 responded by using four ultimates to forcefully kill Ryze. BLG secured the first dragon as a trade-off. After Ryze learned his level 2 ultimate, he took his team top for a 5-man dive, killing Doran's Aatrox under the tower. T1 was on the back foot, their pace constrained. Bin's Jax swapped to the bottom lane and solo-destroyed T1's outer turret. BLG also secured the second dragon. At the 16-minute mark, Ryze attempted a tower dive on Aatrox top but missed his Q after Flash, giving Aatrox an opportunity for a counter-kill. With Senna's long-range ultimate assist, Aatrox secured Ryze's shutdown gold. T1 momentarily stabilized the pace. After Baron spawned, BLG successfully defended against T1's Rift Herald push, keeping their mid turret alive while earning the Chemtech Soul point, leading by 3k gold.

In the mid game, before the Soul dragon fight, T1 destroyed BLG's top and mid outer turrets consecutively. BLG chose to give up their low-HP mid turret to secure position at the dragon pit first. T1 committed their initial damage to the flanking Ryze. BLG's frontline safely secured the Chemtech Soul, then focused down Aatrox and turned to Baron. The crippled T1 could only rely on Wukong to attempt a Smite steal, but Xun's Qiyana calmly secured the Smite on Baron! With T1's formation scattered, they were defeated piece by piece. BLG secured a 0-for-4 victory, destroying T1's mid inhibitor turret and establishing a 10k gold lead.
Despite being in a huge deficit, T1 showed great resilience, stubbornly defending their top lane inhibitor turret. BLG didn't get overconfident or impatient; they recalled, healed, warded the Elder Dragon river, and pincer-invaded T1's bottom jungle. Doran's Aatrox was slowed by Vel'Koz's Q, then hit by Jax's E counter-strike, effectively dying for free. ON's Alistar also caught Oner's Wukong. Wukong was forced to use his ultimate and spin desperately, but his teammates couldn't follow up. BLG secured another 0-for-4 victory, ending the game in one push and securing a 2-1 lead in the series, just one win away from defeating T1!
Game 4

BLG: Gwen, Skarner, Aurora, Caitlyn, Elise
T1: K'Sante, Jarvan IV, Ahri, Mel, Pyke
At the start, the T1 bot lane duo hid in the tri-brush near the blue side's bot tower, aiming to chunk Elise's HP. However, ON's signature Elise instantly learned her E (Spider Form) to Rappel, dodging damage while quickly closing in to Cocoon Mel and applying Ignite. Viper's Caitlyn used Flash to follow up with damage. Mel chose not to use Flash and gave up first blood.

In the early game, Bin's signature Gwen was very successful in lane, forcing Doran's K'Sante to recall at level 3. After reaching level 6, Gwen executed a solo kill. T1's coordination responded in kind. Keria's signature Pyke in the bot lane synergized perfectly with Jarvan, killing BLG's bot duo in a 0-for-2 trade. Pyke then roamed mid for a 3v3 skirmish with BLG, resulting in a trade of Elise for Jarvan. Xun's Skarner was also active, ganking top to kill K'Sante again, further enlarging their top lane lead. T1 secured the first dragon as a trade-off.
While T1's top lane losses were mounting, Pyke was making plays in the bottom half of the map: He and Jarvan ganked bot to kill Caitlyn again. This was followed by another 3v3 mid skirmish where T1 secured a 0-for-2 trade and their second dragon. At the 15-minute mark, T1 grouped to kill Gwen top. BLG's rhythm completely collapsed. After destroying the top turret, T1 killed Gwen twice more. Only Knight's Aurora maintained stable development. Before Baron spawned, Skarner in the mid lane attempted an engage. T1 quickly responded and counter-attacked. Peyz's Mel dealt damage without pressure, securing a double kill. T1 secured a 0-for-4 victory, earning the Cloud Soul point and establishing a 5k gold lead.

In this game, Keria not only showcased his "World's Best Pyke" status but also jumpstarted Oner's Jarvan's tempo. Combining with their duo carries' explosive damage, they secured a 0-for-3 team fight in BLG's bottom jungle, eliminating BLG's top, mid, and jungle. BLG could only watch as T1 secured the Baron! BLG's members respawned and chose to make a last stand in the mid lane. They managed a 3-for-3 trade, finally securing the shutdown gold on Mel and Pyke. However, T1 unlocked the Cloud Soul without pressure.
At the 28-minute mark, T1 invaded BLG's blue buff jungle, attempting an ambush. ON's Elise hit a precise E-Flash on Peyz's Mel. BLG focused and eliminated Mel, then chose to start the Baron. T1 constantly harassed BLG from the sides, forcing them to abandon the Baron. T1 then took over the Baron securely. In the Elder Dragon fight, Faker's Ahri and Keria's Pyke executed a brilliant double flank, leading to a 2-for-5 ace on BLG and ending the game in one push. As has happened many times in past international events, T1 once again led 2-2, pushing the LPL team to the brink.
Game 5

T1: Gnar, Trundle, Taliyah, Zeri, Lulu
BLG: Rumble, Kindred, Syndra, Ashe, Seraphine
The early game was mostly peaceful across all three lanes. At the 4-minute mark, Xun's Kindred invaded T1's bottom jungle. Mid lanes from both sides rotated to help. Kindred sacrificed his Flash to secure a Wolf mark that spawned in T1's jungle. BLG's top and bot lanes recalled first and swapped. T1 responded by sending their bot duo mid and Taliyah to the bottom lane. At the 8-minute mark, Oner's Trundle solo invaded BLG's top jungle, attempting an ambush on Kindred. However, Kindred timely activated his ultimate to stall for teammates' arrival. ON's Seraphine hit a Flash ultimate, combined with Viper's Ashe's double ultimate, to pin down Trundle. Kindred secured first blood!

In the early game, Xun's Kindred's mark pace matched Keria's Pyke's from the previous game: At the 12-minute mark, Kindred had 5 marks and Trinity Force, along with two dragons. ON's Seraphine executed a clever roam mid, using her ultimate from across the wall to help Knight's Syndra kill Faker's Taliyah. Subsequently, both teams' full rosters skirmished in the top lane. Although they traded spells and damage without any kills, BLG secured the Rift Herald without pressure.
With a fed Kindred on their side, BLG could accelerate their objective control. They again set up an ambush in the river near the dragon pit, chunking T1's HP. T1 had to concede another dragon, allowing BLG to safely earn the Mountain Soul point. Before Baron spawned, the mid laners from both teams engaged in an "ultimate duel" in the bot lane. Syndra missed her W, allowing Taliyah to activate Seraph's Embrace's shield, then land a Flash Stone Surge combo to secure a spectacular counter-kill. BLG used the Rift Herald to completely destroy T1's mid inner turret. In exchange, T1 destroyed BLG's top and mid outer turrets.

With severely limited vision in the bottom half of the map, T1 proactively gave up the Soul Dragon. Instead, they attempted a stealthy Baron rush trick. However, BLG quickly responded with a focus fire to first eliminate the low-HP Trundle. Kindred then calmly secured the Baron steal! T1 suffered a "Baron-throw" disaster, being defeated piece by piece. BLG secured a 0-for-4 victory, destroying T1's mid inhibitor turret and establishing a 6k gold lead. Finally, as BLG advanced on T1's top lane inhibitor turret, they secured a 2-for-3 trade, ending the game in one push. BLG decisively avenged their previous loss, defeating T1 3-2 and advancing to face LCS's top seed LYON in the next round of the winners' bracket!
