On July 8th Beijing time, the fifth day of the 2026 MSI Mid-Season Invitational knockout stage featured the lower bracket, with the second highlight match being LCK second seed T1 versus LEC first seed G2! Today, G2's top laner BrokenBlade completely dominated Doran in lane. In the first game, he played Vayne and solo-killed Doran's Renekton; in the second game, his Cho'Gath made Yorick 0/6; and in the third game, his Yasuo also solo-killed Doran's Gnar. Ultimately, G2 avenged themselves strongly with a 3-1 victory over T1 to advance to the semifinals, where they will face LCS first seed LYON in the third round of the lower bracket!
Game 1

G2: Vayne, Jarvan IV, Anivia, Ezreal, Leona
T1: Renekton, Nocturne, Cassiopeia, Ziggs, Camille
At the start, Doran's Renekton at level 4 pushed the wave and started recalling right in front of Vayne. BrokenBlade's Vayne decisively used Q to get close and proc three rings, forcing Renekton's Flash before completing a solo kill to secure first blood!

In the early game, both teams frequently clashed in the top side. When G2 invaded T1's top jungle, they were collapsed on by T1 members, resulting in both G2's mid and jungle dying and their tempo falling apart. Then T1's support and jungle roamed mid to gank Anivia. Keria's Camille misplayed and didn't stun Anivia; Oner's Nocturne ulted in to try a tower dive, but Caps's Anivia landed a clever W ice wall to trap Nocturne and secured a counter-kill. Renekton reached level 6, used ult and chased Vayne past the minion wave, forcing Vayne into a corner near the top lane bush and completed a solo kill to regain face. For the first neutral objective, T1 chose to take the dragon, while G2 took the voidgrubs in exchange.
T1 was eager to help Renekton snowball his lead from top lane, but two attempts to gank Vayne were thwarted by G2, who turned the tables with a 0-for-3 counter. Vayne quickly completed his first core item, "Hextech Hiltplate", gaining the ability to teamfight. At 14 minutes, T1 successfully ganked mid, using their support and jungle's ults to lock down the isolated Ezreal clearing waves, with Ziggs finishing him off with a long-range ult. G2 pushed down the bottom lane first tower to mitigate losses, while T1 took the Rift Herald in exchange. Before Baron spawned, all three of G2's outer towers were destroyed, and they only managed to kill Cassiopeia in the top lane at the cost of their support and jungle.

In the mid game, both teams simultaneously caught opponents on the sidelines. G2 gathered three members and killed Vayne in their own bottom jungle. Meanwhile, G2's mid, jungle, and support killed T1's mid and jungle in the top lane. Overall, T1 got a 2-for-2 trade while also taking an extra bottom lane inner tower. In exchange, G2 waited for their teammates to respawn and secured position at the dragon pit first, forcing away the Lee Sin and taking the Infernal Drake smoothly. At 25 minutes, T1 invaded G2's top jungle to set up vision. Caps's Anivia ventured alone to check vision and was caught by Camille. Cassiopeia's W miasma was very effective in the narrow jungle corridor, first trapping Anivia then Ezreal, helping T1 secure a 1-for-3 trade and take Baron Nashor without pressure!
While G2 was defending their top lane inner tower, Camille once again initiated with her ult to lock down Anivia. However, this time G2's teamfight kiting was superior. Vayne used his ult, moving nimbly and dealing max damage, leading G2 to a 1-for-3 trade, interrupting T1's Baron-buff push and securing the Infernal Soul point safely. They were only 3k gold behind and still in the fight. When Baron respawned, T1's Keria on Camille waited in the river bush and caught Vayne first, with Ziggs finishing him off from range. T1 got a 1-for-2 and forced away G2's remaining three, taking Baron as desired!

G2's few advantages were only the soul point and Vayne's excellent farm, and these two points helped G2 turn the game around. T1 could not afford to let G2 get the Infernal Soul. When the dragon spawned, both teams clashed at the river. Although Oner's Nocturne ulted to steal the dragon, he flew into G2's backline and became separated from his team. Ziggs' ult failed to lower G2's health sufficiently. Nocturne lost his Guardian Angel first. Renekton ulted and followed up but was stunned onto the wall by Vayne's E and died for free. Faker's Cassiopeia attempted a flash ult but Vayne sidestepped it. G2's three carries dealt massive damage, securing a 1-for-4 trade, collecting Ziggs' shutdown gold, and taking the third Baron to sound the counterattack! After reviving, Renekton split-pushed top but was solo-killed by Ezreal. G2 pushed mid and bot simultaneously, ultimately relying on "Mr. Clutch" BrokenBlade's Vayne godlike teamfight performance to complete a comeback, taking the first game 1-0!
Game 2

G2: Cho'Gath, Pantheon, Syndra, Lucian, Bard
T1: Yorick, Naafiri, Ryze, Mel, Pyke
At the start, G2 had lane priority in all three lanes. Keria picked his trademark Pyke and his early roams were impactful immediately. His first roam to mid forced Syndra's Flash. At 5 minutes, T1's jungle and support roamed mid for a 3v1 kill. Pyke initiated with E-Flash to lock down Syndra, whose Flash was still on cooldown, and Naafiri followed up to secure first blood.

G2's early game plan was clear: they targeted Yorick as a weak point. Pantheon hit level 6 and ulted top, helping Cho'Gath kill Yorick. T1 quickly responded by grouping in the bottom lane to catch a lone target, securing a 1-for-3 trade and taking the dragon. Doran's Yorick retreated just in time when G2's mid and jungle roamed top, then teleported bottom to join his team and take the first tower. In exchange, G2 also took the top tower. In the subsequent Rift Herald fight, G2 again focused Yorick first, and with a man disadvantage, T1 had to give up the Herald, and their bottom outer tower fell.
At 17 minutes, G2 found success both top and mid. Pantheon ulted top, flanking with Bard to kill Ryze. Meanwhile, T1 tried to collapse on BrokenBlade's Cho'Gath mid, but Cho'Gath with stacked ult and Heartsteel layers tanked three enemies effortlessly. T1 had to trade their bot lane duo to take down Lucian. Before Baron spawned, G2 pushed down T1's mid outer tower. Even though T1 had the Ocean Soul point, they could not deal with the fully tanky Cho'Gath in teamfights, and fell 4k gold behind.

In the mid game, G2 grouped around the fed Cho'Gath to push, and Caps's Syndra was also better developed than Ryze. Wherever G2 went, T1 crumbled. Doran's Yorick died twice in a row, completely losing his split-push momentum. G2 quickly destroyed T1's mid and bot inhibitors, firmly holding tempo. Faker's Ryze, despite his team's huge deficit, tried his best, using wave management to sneak G2's top inner tower, while Yorick only dared to push waves to the river, posing no threat to G2's bot inner tower.
At 28 minutes, G2 grouped to start Baron to force a fight. T1's kiting was useless against G2's support and jungle ults and the rock-solid Cho'Gath. G2 first killed Mel then chased Yorick. Under pressure, Doran's Yorick misplayed, flashing on the spot and dying for free. G2 secured a 0-for-2 and took Baron unopposed. Cho'Gath had stacked 10 ult stacks and over 200 Heartsteel stacks, becoming unstoppable! T1 decided to go all-in mid. Their two carries and Pyke unloaded three full rotations of spells, only to see Cho'Gath at half health. G2 crushed them with a 0-for-4, pushed mid and ended the game. Relying on the "top gap", they took a 2-0 lead to match point, pushing T1 to the brink of elimination!
Game 3

G2: Yasuo, Skarner, Aurora, Varus, Renata Glasc
T1: Gnar, Lee Sin, Sylas, Xayah, Rakan
At the start, G2 had lane priority mid and bot. Oner's Lee Sin ganked top at level 3 and successfully secured first blood on Yasuo. However, when Skarner ganked bot, Peyz's Xayah greedily held onto Flash, got knocked into the wall by Skarner, then hit by Renata's Q and brought to low health. Xayah then Flash but was killed by Varus's max-range Q.

The "top gap" persisted in this game. At level 5, BrokenBlade's Yasuo used a Q tornado to force Doran's Gnar's Flash. Then Yasuo hit level 6 and stylishly EQ-flashed to knock up mini Gnar, stacked Lethal Tempo and dove tower for a solo kill! T1 had to give up on top again and shifted focus to G2's bot lane, ganking G2's bot duo and taking the water dragon. Faker's Sylas recalled, then roamed top with his support and jungle. G2's top, mid, jungle, and ADC all gathered to engage. SkewMond's Skarner landed a crucial ult to grab T1's top and jungle, preventing them from killing Varus early. G2 countered with a 1-for-3 trade and took the top lane first tower.
T1, shaken but composed, regrouped and exploited G2's chaotic side-switching. They caught G2 outnumbered in the bot lane and secured a 0-for-3 trade. Yasuo died twice consecutively, losing all his lead over Gnar. T1 took the bot tower and uncontested Chemtech Drake, while G2 took the Rift Herald to mitigate. Before Baron spawned, G2 secured position at the dragon pit. Doran's mega Gnar teleported in but instantly shrank into mini form, becoming useless. Caps's Aurora ulted to catch four, leading G2 to a 1-for-3 trade and taking the Infernal Drake, interrupting T1's soul point. T1's bot outer tower fell, and the situation looked grim.

In the mid game, T1's mid and support tried to ambush a lone target in the top brush, but Lee Sin's path to join his team was spotted by G2's vision. Both teams skirmished all the way to the Baron river. Hans Sama's Varus went all out with massive damage, helping G2 secure a 2-for-4 trade! However, G2, with a big lead, failed to play controlled macro. Instead, they fell into an "aram" style, frequently fighting outnumbered. T1 calmly fought back, gradually closing the gap, and even took Baron, turning the game around!
At 26 minutes, T1 invaded G2's bottom jungle and burst Varus down to low health. Although Lee Sin misplayed his ult, kicking Varus over the wall and giving him a chance to output, Caps's Aurora was split-pushing top and not in the fight. Still, T1's numbers advantage gave them a 1-for-4 victory, taking a 4k gold lead! Finally, T1 replicated the strategy, waiting in G2's bottom jungle and catching Skarner first. G2's support and jungle fell before their carries could arrive. T1 crushed them with a 0-for-5 ace and ended the game in one push, keeping the BO5 alive!
Game 4

G2: Kled, Xin Zhao, Viktor, Ashe, Karma
T1: Olaf, Wukong, Galio, Caitlyn, Lux
This game, T1 had a very solid composition, and in the early game they achieved a rare triple lane advantage. Doran's Olaf at level 3 didn't give Kled a chance to remount, completing a solo kill for first blood! Meanwhile, Faker's Galio also solo-killed Caps's Viktor mid. T1's bot lane, with help from Oner's Wukong, got a 0-for-2, killing G2's bot duo. T1 built nearly a 2k gold lead in the laning phase!

Despite the deficit, G2 didn't panic. BrokenBlade's Kled hit level 6 and ulted mid, securing a kill on Galio. Then Xin Zhao ganked bot, helping Ashe kill Lux, stabilizing the tempo slightly. T1 took the first dragon and three voidgrubs. Caitlyn swapped to top and solo took the first tower. Then T1 grouped five to push down the bot tower, successfully forcing away G2's bot laners and jungler, taking both dragon and tower, firmly controlling the pace.
At 14 minutes, Doran's Olaf swapped to bot, ulted and chased down the helpless Karma for a solo kill. Although G2 converged to end Olaf's "sinful" life, Keria's Lux hit three Qs in mid, helping Caitlyn get a double kill. T1 still got a 1-for-3 trade and took G2's mid outer tower. Before Baron spawned, Olaf gave away two consecutive deaths bot. On the second death, he ulted into the inner tower and even hindered his teammates. G2 gladly collected the shutdown gold on Galio and Caitlyn, securing a 0-for-4 trade and taking the Chemtech Drake, interrupting T1's soul point. T1's earlier accumulated lead vanished!

In the mid game, BrokenBlade's Kled finished his two core items: Black Cleaver and Titanic Hydra, providing good tankiness and damage. With his team's help, he dove T1's bot inner tower and killed Galio. T1 waited for Galio to respawn, then secured position at the dragon pit, taking the Chemtech Soul point safely. G2's formation was split and they were picked off. Caps's Viktor escaped in the opposite direction, running from T1's bottom jungle all the way to their top jungle, using the blast cone to escape to his own top outer tower, stalling enough time. T1 got a 2-for-4 but could not take Baron.
At 25 minutes, both teams skirmished in the Baron river. Peyz's Caitlyn had a perfect environment, dealing massive damage and getting a pentakill, leading T1 to a 3-for-5 ace and a huge victory! However, in the subsequent dragon river fight, T1's formation was severely split. While Olaf cleared mid wave, G2 focused Galio first and took him down. By the time Olaf arrived, his teammates were already dead. G2 then secured a 2-for-5 ace on T1, sounding the counterattack! Later, with full build, Kled fought 1v4 above the dragon pit, getting a double kill and escaping safely, helping his team unlock the Chemtech Soul. Kled then dove T1's bot inner tower and solo-killed Galio, allowing G2 to take Baron uncontested! T1 lost all three inhibitors and fell 8k behind. Ultimately, G2, with Kled ulting to backdoor, survived a close call and eliminated T1 3-1, advancing to the semifinals where they will face LCS first seed LYON in the third round of the lower bracket!
