T1 and Gen.G have officially secured their spots at the 2026 World Championship.

The battle for tickets to the 2026 League of Legends World Championship in South Korea has identified two more extremely well-known teams. After the games on September 1, 2026, Gen.G and T1 both secured their spots at the most important event of the year, joining Hanwha Life Esports.

The highlight of the match day was the showdown between Gen.G and KT Rolster in the second round of the winners' bracket at the 2026 LCK Playoffs. Gen.G entered the match with a significant advantage after finishing the regular season in first place and choosing KT as their opponent.

The result showed that Gen.G's decision was entirely justified. Chovy and his teammates defeated KT with a score of 3-0, thus advancing one step further on their journey to defend the LCK title and, more importantly, officially securing their ticket to the 2026 World Championship.

Although the final score was quite one-sided, the first game was not easy for Gen.G. KT had controlled the game and secured four dragons, but the turning point came when Canyon successfully stole the Elder Dragon with Smite. Gen.G immediately capitalized on the advantage to wipe out the opponent and finish the game. In the next two games, Gen.G's control over teamfights and major objectives grew increasingly dominant before they completed the 3-0 victory.

What is special about this victory is that it not only brought the World Championship ticket to Gen.G but also allowed T1 to officially qualify through the allocation system of the 2026 LCK.

Before September 1, T1 had two paths to guarantee their spot at Worlds: win another match in the Playoffs themselves, or have Gen.G defeat KT Rolster. When the second scenario occurred, T1's position on the bracket was enough to secure a place in the final international tournament of the year.

Thus, Faker and his teammates did not need to wait for the result of the match against Hanwha Life Esports on September 2 to know their fate.

Earlier, T1's Playoffs journey had gone through a real challenge against BNK FEARX. The reigning world champions were down 1-2 but managed to come back and win 3-2. Faker created a turning point with Anivia in Game 4, before Peyz executed a pentakill with Varus in the decisive game to send T1 to the second round.

Securing the ticket early is even more notable since T1 are the three-time consecutive World Champions from 2023 to 2025. The 2026 World Championship will therefore be an opportunity for Faker and T1 to extend one of the most astonishing periods of dominance in League of Legends history.

Before T1 and Gen.G, Hanwha Life Esports had become the first LCK representative to secure a ticket thanks to their victory at the 2026 Mid-Season Invitational and meeting the domestic competition requirements. HLE's achievement also gave the LCK a total of four slots at the 2026 World Championship, with the fourth Korean representative also entering directly into the Swiss Stage.

Thus, the LCK now has confirmed HLE, Gen.G, and T1 at the World Championship. The remaining battle will revolve around the final ticket as well as seed order.

The 2026 World Championship is scheduled to take place from October 15 to November 14 in the United States, passing through Los Angeles, Allen in Texas, and New York. The final match will be held at Barclays Center, Brooklyn.

With Gen.G, HLE, and especially T1 – the team aiming for a fourth consecutive world championship – the LCK will once again enter the World Championship with a roster considered among the most formidable in the tournament.
