TheShy reveals the reason for his comeback for the first time: to help his good brother Rookie during a difficult time.

After finishing last season, TheShy took a six-month break. His sudden announcement of a comeback caught everyone off guard, especially since IG's situation at the time was far from ideal—they had just lost to TT and fallen into the "Rebirth Group."

No one expected TheShy to return and play in the Rebirth Group at that point.

Many viewers speculated at the time that one major reason for TheShy's return might be to support Rookie.

In a recent interview, TheShy openly shared the real reason for his comeback—it was indeed because of Rookie. He said: "If I were to make a comeback, I only considered IG at the time. And I heard that Rookie was coming back, so I chose to return to help him."

After the first split, Rookie was hit by some off-field scandals and decided to take a break for a while.

When public opinion started to shift in his favor, Rookie prepared to return. He probably reached out to TheShy for help, and TheShy agreed without hesitation.

The mid-jungle duo truly embodies brotherly League of Legends.

Over the years, the bond between TheShy and Rookie has remained strong—a well-known fact in the esports scene.

TheShy sees Rookie as a senior figure. When he first joined IG, Rookie looked after him. Rookie himself dislikes the traditional Korean seniority culture, as he once mentioned in an interview.

That's why TheShy is so grateful to Rookie.

The third split presents a unique situation for IG. Rookie's return came with considerable risk: the team's performance was already poor, and his personal reputation was at an all-time low. If he underperformed, the pressure would be enormous.

Rookie also gave an interview to the Korean media, praising TheShy in the highest terms: "He is a teammate I am grateful for and treasure. To meet such an excellent top laner at a crucial moment—I'm truly thankful to him."

It's clear that TheShy and Rookie are a rare duo in the League of Legends esports scene that can truly be described as having deep brotherly affection.

According to the latest LPL official duo statistics, the combined kills of TheShy and Rookie have reached 2,977, ranking fourth among all LPL duos (before the match against TT; after that match, the number increased further, potentially surpassing the Bin and Elk duo in future games).

Now, the two brothers face a true do-or-die test. IG must defeat TES to have a chance at the Qualifying Round. Since LGD's victory over TES boosted LGD's points significantly, IG needs to secure a higher score.

Hopefully, IG can carry the momentum from their sweep against TT into the match against TES and perform well.
