For years, details were only teased through brief trailers, but now GTA 6 has provided a more detailed view of its actual gameplay. This new 30-minute footage demonstrates the enormous size of Vice City and reveals Rockstar's ambition to push interactivity to unprecedented heights.
The first impressive point in the approximately 26 minutes of gameplay is the scale of the state of Leonida. The streets of Vice City appear with dense NPC population, a large number of vehicles, and many simultaneous activities.
Notably, all footage was captured on PS5, instead of a high-end PC for demonstration purposes. The quality of lighting, character models, and environments thus draws even more attention from the community.
Rockstar seems to continue developing the philosophy that made Red Dead Redemption 2 successful. The world is not just a place for players to travel between missions, but also features a host of characters, animals, and environmental details to interact with.
The two main characters Jason and Lucia remain the focal point. Gameplay shows they not only appear together in heists or gunfights. The duo can also explore the world, go diving, and engage in many activities outside the main missions.
In particular, the ability to switch between Jason and Lucia appears in some action situations. If deeply utilized, this system could allow missions in GTA 6 to have more approaches than GTA 5.
The combat system has also been supplemented with many details. Players can directly pick up weapons, interact with NPCs through contextual choices, and there are signs that not all enemies must be eliminated.
One of the most notable points lies outside the gunfights. Phones, social media, and a range of real-life simulation services are integrated more deeply. Jason and Lucia can eat, exercise, and engage in many everyday activities. Some mechanics are even said to have the ability to make lifestyle affect the character's appearance.
If these elements are implemented as Rockstar has shown, GTA 6 could get closer to a true simulation world, rather than just a large map for completing missions.
Of course, 26 minutes are not enough to confirm the quality of the entire game. But at least, Rockstar is showing that GTA 6 is not simply "GTA 5 with better graphics", but wants to combine GTA's freedom with the level of detail that made Red Dead Redemption 2 famous.
GTA 6 is currently scheduled for release on November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
