Finnish billiards legend Mika Immonen passed away early on September 29 (Hanoi time) after battling stage 4 colorectal cancer. He was 52 years old.

The world billiards icon has died, receiving numerous tributes.

Immonen, nicknamed "The Iceman," is considered one of the greatest cueists in history during his peak years. He stood atop the podium at the 2001 9-ball World Championship and the 2009 10-ball World Championship, and was honored with induction into the billiards Hall of Fame a decade ago.

“Immonen’s fearless playing style combined with his outstanding cue ball control captivated fans around the globe,” Matchroom Pool remembered on social media.
