Young Vietnamese billiards player made a splash by securing the runner-up position in a prestigious billiard tournament.

Nguyễn Tiến Trung – a young talent in Vietnamese billiards – wrapped up his emotional run at the Hanoi Junior Open 2025 by finishing as the runner-up.

The Hanoi Junior Open 2025 featured 64 young players under 17, part of the WNT system, held simultaneously with the Hanoi Open Pool Championship 2025, with a total prize pool of 10,000 USD. This competition provides young players with valuable experience and exposure to an international professional setting.

Nguyễn Tiến Trung secured the runner-up title at the Hanoi Junior Open 2025.

Nguyễn Tiến Trung – nicknamed "Trung Nấm" – made a strong impression in the semifinals by staging a stunning comeback against Malinao from the Philippines. Trailing 1-5, the Vietnamese player remained composed and executed difficult shots with precision to win 7-5, becoming the first Vietnamese player to reach the final of a Junior event in the WNT system.

In the final match held tonight (October 11), Nguyễn Tiến Trung competed against Jack Beggs from New Zealand. Despite his determined effort, Tiến Trung was defeated 7-9 by Jack Beggs and finished as the runner-up.

Although he ended as the runner-up, Nguyễn Tiến Trung earned high regard from experts and fans alike for his skill, fighting spirit, and international competitive mindset. This result is not only a personal achievement but also a major advancement for Vietnamese billiards on the global youth map, promising a bright future for "Trung Nấm" and the upcoming generation.
