At 7:30 PM on August 21, the Vietnam U16 girls team will open Group B against the Cambodia U16 girls at Sriwedari Stadium. Three days later, coach Okiyama Masahiko’s squad will face the Myanmar U16 girls at Manahan Stadium. If they advance past the group stage, Vietnam U16 girls will play the semifinals on August 27 at Manahan Stadium (Surakarta, Indonesia).
“Regarding our goal for the tournament, first we aim to get through the group stage to secure a semifinal spot, fighting hard in every match with the ambition to win the championship. Through this event, I also want to give players international exposure, help them gain experience from international competitions and overseas tours, and foster pride and responsibility as national team players.
Based on practical match experience, I want to improve the players' individual skills and the team’s strength to prepare for the U17 Asian qualifiers scheduled for October,” shared coach Okiyama Masahiko of Vietnam U16 girls.
To prepare for the regional tournament, the Vietnam U16 girls team trained for a month at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center, playing five friendly matches against U19 girls teams from Ha Nam, Thai Nguyen, and Vinh Phuc.
