Lineker predicts Premier League Round 2: MU fails to win; Arsenal shines

Former England striker Gary Lineker has just made his predictions for the matches in the second round of the 2025/26 Premier League season.

Meanwhile, in the other marquee match, Lineker predicts Liverpool will overcome Newcastle with a 3-2 scoreline in a thrilling back-and-forth battle. He admits this is a “risky” call, as it might upset his close friend Alan Shearer, but Lineker believes the internal turmoil surrounding Alexander Isak's future will significantly affect Newcastle's performance.

In the remaining fixtures, Chelsea is expected to secure a 2-1 victory over West Hamas the team’s morale is high following their 2025 FIFA Club World Cup triumph. The match between AFC Bournemouth and Wolves is predicted by Lineker to favor Bournemouth 1-0, due to Wolves struggling after losing key players in the summer transfer window. Aston Villa is rated higher than Brentford and should win 2-0, especially since Brentford recently parted ways with their head coach and some key stars.

In the battle between the two newcomers Burnley and Sunderland, Lineker believes Burnley will use their home advantage to win 1-0. Arsenal continues to be trusted to claim a 3-1 victory over Leeds thanks to their consistent form at the Emirates Stadium.
