Chelsea dominated West Ham 5-1 in the Premier League's second round. The 18-year-old Brazilian wonderkid Estevao left his mark with a historic assist and was named the best player of the game.
Chelsea secured a resounding 5-1 victory over West Ham in the Premier League’s second round, but the standout name after the match was the 18-year-old Brazilian prodigy Estevao. In his first Premier League start, the young player not only impressed greatly but also set a historic milestone.
The young Brazilian player Estevao shined during his full debut as Chelsea had five different goal scorers: Joao Pedro, Pedro Neto, Enzo Fernandez, Moises Caicedo, and Trevoh Chalobah. Three of those goals came from corners, where West Ham failed to mark their opponents properly.

From the opening minutes, Estevao displayed a rare confidence for a teenager. He moved fluidly, combined well with teammates, and frequently produced breakthrough plays. The most memorable moment came in the first half when Estevao delivered a precise pass to Enzo Fernandez for a goal. With that assist, he officially became the youngest player ever to assist for Chelsea in the Premier League, marking a personal record.
The young Chelsea star not only provided one assist but also led the team in several key stats: 13 passes in the final third, 3 successful dribbles, and 3 accurate tackles. Leading simultaneously in creativity, penetration, and defensive support shows Estevao is a well-rounded player ready to explode and become a new hope at Stamford Bridge.

Beyond the numbers, Estevao evoked strong emotions from the crowd with his fast, skillful, and decisive play. He repeatedly troubled West Ham’s defense, creating space for teammates to exploit. Estevao’s dynamism was the brightest spot amid Chelsea’s absence of Cole Palmer due to injury. At the end of the match, he was voted Man of the Match—a well-deserved honor for a complete debut.

Nevertheless, coach Enzo Maresca remained cautious when talking about his young player: “Estevao is still very young; he needs time to adapt to the harsh environment of the Premier League. We are very pleased but do not want to put too much pressure on him.”
The 5-1 win over West Ham confirmed Chelsea’s collective strength, but Estevao was the biggest highlight. With his explosive performance, the Brazilian prodigy is raising hopes of becoming a major star at Stamford Bridge, where he is expected to be a new iconic face for The Blues’ next generation.
Chelsea currently leads the Premier League table with 4 points after 2 rounds, although they have played one more match than most teams.
