Arsenal concedes they have no opportunity to sign Newcastle forward Isak.
The 2025 summer transfer window is entering its final phase with several high-profile deals still unresolved, with the spotlight on Alexander Isak’s future. The Swedish striker has expressed a desire to leave Newcastle, while Liverpool has made an official offer to acquire him as part of their attacking rebuild. Recently, rumors that Arsenal might join the race were abruptly dismissed when the Emirates club firmly denied any interest in pursuing Isak.
Isak is regarded as one of the Premier League’s top strikers currently. After serving as a key player at St James’ Park for the past two seasons, he is reportedly frustrated with Newcastle’s management. In a striking social media message, Isak accused the club of “breaking promises” and declared that the relationship between them “cannot continue.”
This situation has intensified the transfer market, as many big clubs closely watch developments at St James’ Park. Liverpool is the most active, ready to position Isak as their main striker leading the attack under the new regime. Sources from England indicate that both Isak and Liverpool are interested in the potential collaboration, making this one of the most anticipated transfers of the summer.
As for Arsenal, with Kai Havertz injured, some speculated that the Gunners might consider entering the race. In fact, according to Independent, this rumor even spread among senior officials at the recent PFA awards. However, Arsenal’s response was very clear-cut.
A club official reportedly gave a brief reply: “No chance”, confirming there is no possibility of Arsenal joining the deal. Arsenal quickly shifted focus to Eberechi Eze and reached an agreement with Crystal Palace, viewing him as a short-term replacement for Havertz.
Meanwhile, Newcastle remains firm on not wanting to lose their brightest attacking star. However, the tense situation is causing difficulties within the club. Manager Eddie Howe admitted this is “a losing situation for both sides” as Isak missed the Premier League opener and will also be absent for the upcoming match at Anfield.
“This is a sad moment. Having these matters made public does not reflect well on either the club or Alex. We hope for a resolution soon, but at this point, nothing can be predicted.”, Howe shared during a press conference.
Liverpool is believed to hold the strongest advantage in this race, while Arsenal has officially withdrawn. With the transfer deadline on September 1, Isak’s future will surely remain a hot topic among football fans worldwide in the coming days.
