Coach Ruben Amorim is resolute in his decision to let go of 4 players before the end of the summer transfer period.
Manchester United faces a complicated personnel issue as four players—Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Antony, and Tyrell Malacia—have yet to secure new clubs with less than a week remaining in the summer transfer window. Coach Ruben Amorim has sent a firm message, emphasizing that the responsibility now lies with these players if they wish to leave Old Trafford.
Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Antony, and Tyrell Malacia have been separated from the first team. They continue training at the Carrington center but follow a separate schedule, completely isolated from the group that Coach Amorim directly manages. This measure aims to maintain team stability while pressuring those not in the plans to actively seek new clubs.
The transfer market remains open until September 1st, and the futures of all four players are attracting interest from various clubs. Chelsea is reportedly the leading contender to sign Garnacho, while Sancho has held talks with Serie A teams. Real Betis has expressed interest in re-signing Antony, and Malacia is listed for sale at around £4 million.
In the latest press conference, Coach Amorim admitted that the current situation is “not ideal”: “I understand it’s not positive when players find themselves in this position, but clearly, they want to play elsewhere. We have tried to arrange things so both sides feel satisfied. For me, the priority is focusing on those who will stay long-term, while the others must prepare for the next chapter in their careers,” Coach Amorim explained.
Coach Amorim also left open the possibility of welcoming these players back to the squad if they fail to leave before the window closes: “Once the transfer window shuts, the situation changes. We will have to accept them in a ‘new reality,’ and anything can happen then.”
This summer, Man United invested more than £200 million to acquire expensive new signings including Sesko, Matheus Cunha, and Bryan Mbeumo. Nevertheless, the club still aims to add a midfielder and a goalkeeper. Toby Collyer’s loan move to West Brom seemed to open the door for Carlos Baleba from Brighton, but that deal collapsed due to an excessive price.
When asked about the possibility of more signings, Coach Amorim was straightforward: “That’s Jason Wilcox and the recruitment team’s responsibility. My job is to ensure the team’s performance and readiness. We discuss every situation daily, although not always in formal meetings.”
