The injury of midfielder Khuất Văn Khang is believed to be minor, allowing him to come back to the field in the near future.
During Thể Công Viettel’s victory over Ho Chi Minh City Police, midfielder Khuất Văn Khang had to be rushed to the hospital due to a mouth laceration.
Due to heavy bleeding, the 2003-born star reportedly underwent 10 stitches on his lip, with doctors performing double-layer suturing both inside and outside. Nevertheless, the injury is not as severe as initially expected, and Văn Khang is fully capable of returning to play soon.
It is expected that after 1-2 days of rest, Khuất Văn Khang will resume training with his teammates to prepare for the match against Becamex Ho Chi Minh City Club in the third round of the V-League on August 29.
This means Văn Khang is very likely to remain on Coach Kim Sang Sik’s call-up list for the Vietnam U23 team. Văn Khang and his teammates, who just won the Southeast Asia U23 Championship, will prepare for the 2026 AFC U23 Championship qualifiers in early September.
As the captain of Vietnam U23, Khuất Văn Khang is expected to continue demonstrating leadership as he did in the Southeast Asia U23 Championship, helping Vietnam U23 reach the continent’s most prestigious tournament.
Regarding Coach Kim Sang Sik, the Korean strategist was also present in the stands at Hàng Đẫy Stadium to watch the mentioned match. This was his first time attending a V-League game after two rounds, showing his close attention to team conditions and his search for new talents.
After the third round of the V-League concludes, the 43-year-old coach will gather his players in Phú Thọ at the beginning of September before starting the 2026 AFC U23 Championship qualifiers against Bangladesh, Singapore, and Yemen.
