Amorim’s praise is not exaggerated. In the 2020/21 season, Shaw was regarded by many experts as the best left-back in the world. Despite a career frequently interrupted by injuries, his quality is indisputable.

Shaw suffered a horrific leg break in 2015 and has had recurring muscle injuries in recent seasons. The peak was in 2023/24 when he was forced to play two games within four days right after recovering, leading to a relapse. This means they only focus on the Premier League, FA Cup, and Carabao Cup, a lighter schedule that reduces the risk of Shaw’s injury recurrence.
