HAGL Coach praises: 'Trung Kiên played his best match ever'

Coach Lê Quang Trãi expressed great admiration for his pupil Trần Trung Kiên following his outstanding display versus Hà Nội FC on August 23rd.

At Hàng Đẫy Stadium on the night of August 23rd, HAGL and Hà Nội competed in an entertaining match for the fans present. Although considered the underdogs, the Núi team showed great courage, with goalkeeper Trần Trung Kiên standing out with an exceptional performance. Statistics show Hà Nội FC took 19 shots, 10 on target, but the 2003-born goalkeeper successfully saved all 10, keeping a clean sheet until the final minute.

After the match, Coach Lê Quang Trãi showered his player with praise: “Hà Nội’s squad has strong investment, personnel, and a decade-long history of achievements, while we fielded a young lineup, including Trung Kiên. Today, he played wonderfully, exceptionally well. This was his highest-level performance to date.”

Regarding the 0-0 draw between the two teams, the coach stated: “Although we only earned one point at Hàng Đẫy today, I am very grateful to my players who competed on the field. The single point is the result of collective effort. Hà Nội faced pressure because they lost their first match. They needed to win this game and prepared thoroughly. We also analyzed and evaluated them carefully and with great respect before approaching this match.””

Commenting further on the VAR review in the final minutes, Coach Quang Trãi said: “I also appreciate the referee’s courage in using VAR to acknowledge our effort in a situation where the officials initially called offside. It was tough for us to secure a point in this match.”

One point against a strong opponent like Hà Nội FC will be a big morale boost for HAGL’s young squad, especially after their 0-3 loss to Becamex TPHCM in the opening round. In the next round, Coach Lê Quang Trãi’s team will visit CA TPHCM’s stadium.
