Round 2 of the 2025/26 V-League is still ongoing, yet numerous results over August 22 and 23 have surprised enthusiasts. From Hanoi FC being held to a draw again at Hang Day Stadium, Nam Dinh’s shock loss to SLNA, to the strong rise of newcomer Ninh Bình – all these indicate a season where competition will be far more intense than initially anticipated.
Hanoi FC has yet to regain its "giant" statusdespite playing at home at Hang Day Stadium and facing a HAGL side considered to be struggling in the relegation fight.
In Round 1, Hanoi FC suffered a serious setback losing to Ho Chi Minh City Police (formerly Ho Chi Minh City FC), who had been unable to defeat Hanoi FC in the previous nine seasons.

The match against HAGL (who had lost 3-0 at home to Becamex Binh Duong early this season) was seen as a good opportunity for coach Makoto Teguramori’s team to claim 3 points. However, Hanoi FC still could not break the winless streak.
