HAGL goalkeeper Trung Kiên modestly states that his performance alone wouldn’t have been enough to secure a draw against Hanoi without the support of his teammates.
With a squad considered significantly weaker than Hanoi’s, HAGL started the game aiming for a single point. The Mountain Town team continuously defended against the relentless attacks from the home side.
Goalkeeper Trung Kiên stood out in HAGL’s defense. He repeatedly made crucial saves, frustrating Hanoi’s forwards. HAGL was also lucky when Thành Chung’s late goal was disallowed, allowing coach Lê Quang Trãi’s team to leave with a valuable point.
After the match, goalkeeper Trung Kiên spoke modestly about his own performance.
"Personally, I think no matter what the fans say, I can only keep trying. I couldn’t have achieved this precious draw alone. My entire team gave their best, and today’s result is truly deserved. Everyone knows this was a very tough match. HAGL stayed focused until the very last second to get this outcome."
Coach Lê Quang Trãi also praised Trung Kiên highly: “Hanoi’s squad is well-invested, with strong players and a decade-long history of achievements, while we fielded a young team, including Trung Kiên. Today, he played wonderfully, extremely impressively. This was the peak performance of his career."
Regarding the 0-0 draw between the two teams, the coach said:“Although today we only secured one point at Hang Day Stadium, I am very grateful to my players who competed on the field. The one point is the result of collective effort. Hanoi was under pressure since they lost their first match. They needed to win this one and prepared very thoroughly. We also analyzed and respected them highly, approaching this match carefully.”
One point against a strong opponent like Hanoi FC is a great morale boost for HAGL’s young squad, especially after their 0-3 loss to Becamex TPHCM in the opening round. In the next round, coach Lê Quang Trãi’s team will visit CA TPHCM’s stadium.
