Southeast Asian fans collectively reacted when Vietnam suffered a heavy defeat against Thailand.

Southeast Asian supporters continued to show support for the Vietnam U16 women's team despite their 1-3 loss to Thailand in the semifinals.

After two impressive wins in the group stage of the Southeast Asian U16 Women's Championship, the Vietnam U16 women's team confidently advanced to the semifinals. Coach Okiyama Masahiko’s squad defeated Cambodia 5-0 and overcame Myanmar 2-0. Finishing first in Group B, Vietnam U16 faced the best second-placed team, Thailand U16, in the semifinals.

Facing a somewhat stronger Thai side, the Vietnam U16 women's team gave their best effort but couldn’t pull off an upset. The 1-3 loss meant Coach Okiyama Masahiko’s team accepted defeat in the semifinals and will compete for third place.

On Southeast Asian fan forums, many expressed that the Vietnam U16 women played well despite the defeat. One fan commented: "I’m cheering for the Vietnamese girls from Thailand. You played very well; sports always involve wins and losses."

Similarly, another Facebook user shared their view: "At the senior national level, Thailand’s women’s football team loses to Vietnam, but at the youth level, Thailand just won. Still, Vietnamese women’s football is very strong."

Meanwhile, others pointed out weaknesses that the Vietnam U16 women need to improve: "Overall, the young Vietnamese girls are quite small in size and lack stamina. This is their biggest weakness." An Indonesian fan named Amri Amri predicted Thailand would meet in the final. In the other semifinal, Indonesia U16 will face a very strong opponent, Australia U16.

The Vietnam U16 women still cannot break their streak of failing to reach the Southeast Asian U16 women's final. Previously, in all four participations, their best result was third place (three times third place and once failing to pass the group stage). In their fifth appearance, Vietnam U16 again fell short of reaching the final.
