Neymar hints after being omitted from Brazil national team call-up

Neymar took action for the first time after coach Carlo Ancelotti left him out of the most recent Brazil squad for the 2026 World Cup qualifying matches.

The 33-year-old forward attracted attention by posting a photo of himself training hard with dumbbells in the gym, accompanied by a cryptic message on Instagram: “Success comes from desire, determination, and perseverance to reach your goals. Even if you don’t reach the destination, those who dare to seek and overcome obstacles will, at the very least, achieve something admirable.”

This move is seen as a subtle response after coach Carlo Ancelotti stated that Neymar has “a minor issue” and needs time to resolve it before returning to the national team. Despite highly valuing the talent and influence of the former Barcelona and PSG star, Ancelotti still chose to leave him out of this month’s squad list.

In reality, Neymar’s current form at Santos has not been very convincing. After 19 matches this season, he has scored only 6 goals and provided 3 assists — figures that are modest compared to expectations. Additionally, frequent injury troubles have prevented the 1992-born player from regaining his peak performance.

At 33 years old, Neymar still aims to participate in the 2026 World Cup with Brazil. However, to convince the coaching staff, he must maintain better fitness and demonstrate his true class at Santos.

Meanwhile, under Ancelotti’s leadership, the Brazil team holds a solid position. After 16 qualifying matches, the Selecao ranks third in the standings and has already secured a spot in the 2026 World Cup finals. In September, Brazil will face Chile at home (September 5) before traveling to Bolivia (September 10).

Neymar’s return to the Selecao remains uncertain. However, with his latest actions, the Brazilian star demonstrates a strong determination to come back and prove his worth.
