The Japanese head coach admitted the problems Hanoi FC is encountering and also commented on the potential of "stepping down" from his role.
On the evening of August 28th, Hanoi FC delivered an unconvincing performance against their stadium rivals CAHN, resulting in a 2-4 defeat. The yellow-shirted team fell behind 0-4 before Daniel Passira and Đình Hai scored two late goals to narrow the gap. However, it was not enough to secure any points.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, coach Makoto Teguramori acknowledged the team is undergoing a major crisis: “Although we were technically the away team, this match was practically a home game at Hang Day Stadium. We knew it would be tough, and the result is very disappointing. After falling two goals behind, Hanoi FC exposed many defensive gaps.”
With this loss, Hanoi FC extended their winless streak to three consecutive matches and have yet to experience a victory since the start of the season. They remain stuck near the bottom alongside teams like HAGL, Hải Phòng, and Đà Nẵng, with only a single point earned.
When asked by the media about his future with Hanoi FC, coach Makoto Teguramori revealed: "I came here hoping to lead Hanoi FC to a V-League championship, but the current results are unsatisfactory. The decision regarding my position lies with the club’s management. With the upcoming V-League break, we will have time to improve.”
“There are many reasons for our poor start this season. Only a week ago did the team have a full squad, so the lineup has not yet gelled,” he further explained.
On the official website, Hanoi FC recently issued an apology to their fans for the heavy defeat.
