Brandon Ly was substituted in by coach Mano Polking in the 86th minute of the game between CAHN and Hanoi FC. This was the player's debut for CAHN.
This was also Brandon Ly’s first time being registered to play in CAHN’s squad for the V-League. At the 86th minute, with CAHN leading 4-1, coach Mano Polking brought him on to replace Lê Phạm Thành Long. Although he didn’t touch the ball much, this moment will surely motivate the 2005-born player to strive even harder wearing the police team’s jersey.
In the post-match press conference, the coach with dual German-Brazilian heritage also offered encouraging words to his young player. He shared:
“For any young player newly joining the club, I always provide the best training opportunities before deciding to put them on the field. A debut for a young player like Brandon Ly is not easy; he needs more time to integrate. I highly value his training efforts.”
Born in 2005, Brandon Ly has a Vietnamese-Chinese father and an Irish mother. In England, he was part of the U21 Burnley youth team. Last season, the 2005-born player appeared in 32 matches for U21 Burnley in the Professional Development League, the second tier of youth leagues for English U21 teams, not the Premier League 2.
At the start of the 2025/26 season, Brandon Ly decided to return to Vietnam to pursue a new chapter in his career. Joining CAHN, the young midfielder is not only ambitious to play in high-level continental competitions but also hopes to obtain Vietnamese citizenship soon, which would allow him to represent the national team in the future.
For CAHN, the 4-2 victory over Hanoi temporarily secures their position in second place on the standings, just before the V-League enters its first break.
