HAGL is still the sole team yet to score a goal after the initial 3 rounds of the 2025/2026 V-League.
In the 3rd round of the V-League, HAGL played away against Công an TP HCM. Despite their best efforts, the young squad from the Highlands club failed to create an upset and accepted a 0-1 defeat. In reality, if Công an TP HCM had been more clinical, the scoreline would likely have been more than 0-1.
With only 1 point from 3 matches, HAGL is second to last on the V-League standings, tied on points with Thanh Hóa but ahead on goal difference. Nevertheless, HAGL is still the only team that hasn't scored after 3 rounds. They lost 0-3 to Bình Dương, drew 0-0 with Hà Nội, and lost 0-1 to Công an TP HCM.
In fact, HAGL nearly lost all three matches, being dominated by Hà Nội in round 2 and only managing to keep a clean sheet thanks to the outstanding performance of goalkeeper Trung Kiên. However, the team's attack has been very lackluster, especially the two foreign players Gabriel Conceicao and Marciel, who were expected to be the main sparks.
Part of the reason stems from HAGL's midfield being quite weak. The club parted ways with key players like Châu Ngọc Quang, Dụng Quang Nho, Trần Bảo Toàn, Minh Vương... while the young players have yet to meet the demands. With such a slow start, HAGL is very likely to struggle again in the relegation battle.
This season could be even tougher since the V-League has two direct relegation spots. Other teams have invested significantly in their squads, and both newcomers PVF CAND and Ninh Bình are performing well. This indicates that HAGL could be relegated if they don’t improve immediately.
After the match, HAGL’s coach Lê Quang Trãi shared: "I think Công An TP.HCM played well in the first half. In the second half, we tried hard and had chances, but unfortunately, we couldn’t secure a draw. My players and I must work harder, push ourselves, and race against time. The upcoming break is precious. We encourage each other to train and perform well in the upcoming matches."
