Coach Arne Slot has given the latest information on Liverpool’s team before the major showdown with Arsenal at Anfield on Sunday, August 31st.
Both Liverpool and Arsenal have started the 2025-26 season impressively and are considered top contenders for the Premier League title.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Coach Slot commented: “No, I don’t think so. The positive news is that Conor Bradley only trained once or twice before the Newcastle game, but he has trained all week since, and Mac Allister has also started training. Virgil is also fine.”
Liverpool recently secured a thrilling 3-2 victory over Newcastle United thanks to a 100th-minute goal by young talent Rio Ngumoha. This result helped Slot’s team maintain a strong position and prevented Arsenal from gaining an early advantage in the title race. However, the Anfield side still faces some squad challenges as several key players have not fully recovered from injuries.
One notable absence is Jeremie Frimpong, the £29.5 million signing from Bayer Leverkusen. The defender is still undergoing treatment for a hamstring injury sustained during the opening day win against AFC Bournemouth. Additionally, midfielder Alexis Mac Allister missed the Newcastle game and most of the preseason but has now returned to training and is expected to feature in the important away fixture against Arsenal.
Regarding captain Virgil van Dijk, who suffered a harsh foul from Anthony Gordon, Coach Arne Slot confirmed that the Dutch center-back will be fit to play against Arsenal. Furthermore, Conor Bradley, who came off the bench against the Magpies, has recovered and continued regular training throughout the week.
With the squad gradually stabilizing, Liverpool will be ready to face Arsenal, a team currently in impressive form. This promises to be an intense match, with both sides eager to assert their position in the title race.
