Coach Kim Sang Sik has chosen to call up HAGL player Phan Du Học to the Vietnam national team during the September FIFA Days as a replacement for Doãn Ngọc Tân, who sustained an injury in the third round of the LPBank V-League 2025/26 and will be out for a long time.
Phan Du Học is a wing-back currently playing for Hoàng Anh Gia Lai (HAGL). Born in 2001, he is a product of the first class of the HAGL – JMG Academy. Although young, Du Học has experience playing for several First Division teams such as Long An, Công an Nhân dân, and Ninh Bình before rejoining HAGL from the 2023–2024 season.
Du Học is known for his good pace, consistent technique, and ability to contribute effectively to both offense and defense, making him a dependable option on the flank. He once captained the team in a friendly match against Libolo Club (Angola).

This afternoon, August 29, Du Học along with other players called up to the Vietnam national team arrived at the TOP hotel in Hanoi, preparing for the first training session scheduled for tomorrow.
Because the match between Thể Công Viettel and Becamex TP.HCM was rescheduled to 7:15 PM on August 30, the Vietnam national team will only have its full roster by August 31.
This is the third training camp of the national team in 2025, primarily aimed at reviewing, checking, and evaluating the squad to prepare for the final round of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers taking place in October.
In this call-up list, besides the core players, there are new additions such as goalkeeper Quan Văn Chuẩn (Hà Nội), defenders Trần Hoàng Phúc (CA TP.HCM), Đinh Quang Kiệt (HAGL), midfielder Lý Công Hoàng Anh (Thép Xanh Nam Định), and forward Phạm Gia Hưng (Ninh Bình). Moreover, the team also welcomes back defender Phan Tuấn Tài (Thể Công Viettel) after recovering from injury.
Since head coach Kim Sang Sik is occupied with leading the Vietnam U23 team in the 2026 AFC U23 Asian Cup qualifiers concurrently, the coaching responsibilities of the Vietnam national team have been assigned to acting head coach Đinh Hồng Vinh.
During the training period at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center, the Vietnam national team will play two friendly matches against Công An Hà Nội Club (on September 4) and Thép Xanh Nam Định Club (on September 7). With a squad featuring many skilled players, especially a high-quality group of foreign players, these will be ideal "sparring partners" for the national team’s trials.
