Manchester United will receive €50 million from the sale of Højlund, transfer details revealed! Malacia’s next club finally emerges

"Jingji Net" confirms that Manchester United and Napoli have agreed on the loan and permanent transfer of Rasmus Højlund. The 22-year-old Danish forward will initially be loaned to Napoli for one season, and if the team secures Champions League qualification, the permanent transfer clause becomes obligatory. Furthermore, Manchester United will earn a loan fee this season.

Jingji Net states that Højlund has not completely agreed to the move. He has expressed a desire to stay at Manchester United, which remains a possibility. However, Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano offers a very different perspective: "Manchester United and Napoli finalized the agreement for Højlund on Tuesday, with a €6 million loan fee and a €44 million buyout clause that can become mandatory. Højlund has already accepted, the agent fees are settled, and he wants to go to Napoli. Staying at Manchester United is no longer an option. Only minor details remain before it’s done."

This means Manchester United will earn a total of €50 million (£43 million) from selling Højlund, which is considered a decent negotiation outcome. Of course, compared to the £72 million they paid to acquire him, it represents a significant loss. In early August, Manchester United signed Benjamin Sesko for €85 million and have since been seeking to recoup funds by selling players, with Højlund seen as a viable candidate.

Højlund has not been included in any matchday squad this season, indicating Manchester United’s intentions. He has attracted interest from Atalanta, RB Leipzig, and even Newcastle United, but Napoli submitted the offer most acceptable to Manchester United. Napoli can play in the Champions League, are likely to defend their Serie A title, and have offered Højlund a 50% salary increase. Securing him seems only a matter of time. Reports suggest Napoli hopes to arrange a medical in the next day or two.

Meanwhile, Manchester United’s left-back Tyrell Malacia finally has a potential buyer, with La Liga newcomers Elche negotiating a deal, likely a loan. Spanish media report that Elche is still evaluating the structure of the potential agreement.

The 26-year-old Dutch left-back Malacia was Erik ten Hag’s first signing, costing €17 million, but he lost his place due to multiple serious injuries. In the latter half of last season, he was loaned to PSV Eindhoven, who covered his wages and held a €10 million first option to buy. PSV won the Eredivisie, but Malacia was mostly a substitute and was eventually returned.

After Amorrin took charge, he signed two left-backs, Patrick Doku and Diego León. Upon returning, Malacia was labeled part of the dressing room’s "five mice," banned from training with the first team, and is awaiting a transfer.

Elche was promoted to La Liga this season and has already signed left-back Léo Petro from France’s Saint-Étienne. Additionally, German player Varela has switched from right-back to left-back, so their interest in Malacia is somewhat unexpected. Dutch outlet "International Football" reports that Ligue 1’s Lille also expressed interest in Malacia, but he prefers to play in Spain.

Among all the players Manchester United wants to sell, Malacia is the least valuable. Therefore, even if he is only loaned out, the financial loss would be minimal. His contract expires next summer, and he is likely to leave on a free transfer. Manchester United holds an option to extend for one more year but will almost certainly not use it.

Once Malacia’s transfer is completed, Manchester United will have successfully offloaded Rashford, Garnacho, Højlund, and him this summer, leaving only the departures of Antony and Sancho to be resolved.
