After Doãn Ngọc Tân, Nguyễn Quang Hải and Nguyễn Hai Long have also withdrawn from the Vietnam national team’s September FIFA Days training camp due to injuries.
According to information from the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), besides Ngọc Tân, two other players, Nguyễn Quang Hải and Nguyễn Hai Long, are also unable to participate due to injury problems. To strengthen the squad, head coach Kim Sang Sik has summoned left-back Phan Du Học from HAGL club. Born in 2001 and a product of the 4th class at the HAGL JMG Academy, Du Học was previously called up to the Vietnam U23 team before coach Kim Sang Sik’s era. In the V.League, this player regularly competes wearing the HAGL jersey.
Quang Hải has withdrawn from the Vietnam national team due to injury.
On August 29, Phan Du Học arrived at the team’s camp. Besides that, the Vietnam national team now has a complete squad from Hà Nội, Công an Hà Nội, Ninh Bình, Nam Định, Công an TP.HCM, and Hoàng Anh Gia Lai clubs. Players under contract with Thể Công Viettel and Becamex TP.HCM clubs will join on August 31 due to their delayed match in the third round of LPBank V.League 1-2025/26.
Therefore, the Vietnam national team’s roster has experienced significant changes. Earlier, midfielder Doãn Ngọc Tân suffered a rib fracture following a heavy collision during the Đông Á Thanh Hóa versus Hồng Lĩnh Hà Tĩnh match in the third round of LPBank V.League 1-2025/26. Although his condition stabilized after emergency hospital treatment, the 31-year-old midfielder could not recover in time to participate in this training camp.
Since coach Kim Sang Sik is leading the Vietnam U23 team in the 2026 AFC U23 Championship qualifiers, the senior national team is temporarily overseen directly by assistant coach Đinh Hồng Vinh. During their training at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center, the Vietnam team will hold two internal friendly matches, facing Công an Hà Nội club on September 4 and Thép Xanh Nam Định club on September 7.
