U23 Vietnam accomplishes an essential act before the U23 Asian Championship

On the morning of August 30, the U23 Vietnam squad arrived at the Hung Kings Temple Historical Site (Phu Tho province) to pay tribute by offering incense to the Hung Kings – the forefathers credited with establishing the country.

Joining the team at the ceremony were Mr. Duong Hoang Huong, Standing Committee member of the Provincial Party Committee, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, representatives from the Vietnam Football Federation, local leaders, and sports officials.

At the Kinh Thien Palace atop Nghia Linh Mountain, in a solemn and respectful atmosphere, delegates, coaching staff, and the entire U23 Vietnam team offered incense to honor the merits of the Hung Kings, while also reporting proudly on the achievements of Vietnamese football. Notable accomplishments include the runner-up position at the 2018 U23 Asian Championship in Changzhou (China), two SEA Games titles in 2019 and 2022, and three consecutive championships at the Southeast Asian U23 Championship, most recently in Indonesia in 2025.

Before the spirits of the ancestors, Coach Kim Sang Sik and all players expressed their determination to unite, train relentlessly, and compete wholeheartedly for the national colors. The team aims not only to surpass the 2026 U23 Asian Championship Qualifiers – Group C, held at Viet Tri Stadium (Phu Tho) from September 3 to 9, but also to deliver thrilling and high-quality matches for the fans, helping to reinforce Vietnam's growing stature in regional and continental football.

At the event, Phu Tho Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Director Duong Hoang Huong and other delegates presented flowers to welcome and wished Coach Kim Sang Sik and his team success and memorable days of competition at the sacred Land of the Ancestors.
