Kylian Mbappe is off to a dream start with Real Madrid in the 2025/26 La Liga season. The French star continues to demonstrate impressive goal-scoring form, edging closer to the club's consecutive scoring record previously set by Cristiano Ronaldo.
In the opening round of La Liga, Mbappe scored the decisive goal to help Real Madrid defeat Osasuna. Just a week later, the 26-year-old striker shined again with a brace against Real Oviedo, playing a key role in securing the win for Los Blancos.
With 3 goals in just 2 matches, Mbappe has shown he is ready to extend his streak of success following last season’s Pichichi title. In fact, this is not the first time the former PSG star has exploded early in a season. Throughout his career, Mbappe has scored at least 3 goals within the first 2 rounds on three occasions. The peak was the 2023/24 season, when he netted 7 times in just the first 4 Ligue 1 matches for PSG.
Notably, at the end of the 2024/25 La Liga season, Mbappe finished with a brilliant scoring run, netting 9 goals in the last 5 games, including a hat-trick against Barcelona and braces against Real Sociedad and Celta Vigo.
Thanks to maintaining that scoring rate, Mbappe has now scored in 7 consecutive matches for Real Madrid in La Liga. This achievement equals the record of legend Ferenc Puskas and marks the second-longest scoring streak in the history of the Spanish giants.
The ultimate record still belongs to Cristiano Ronaldo, who scored in 10 consecutive league matches for Real Madrid during the 2014/15 season. During that period, CR7 found the net 19 times in just 10 games, from matchday 3 to matchday 12.
Mbappe is currently only 3 games short of this milestone, and with his current form, he is fully capable of matching or even surpassing the record set by the Portuguese superstar.
Although Ronaldo holds the Real Madrid record, in La Liga overall, Lionel Messi remains the dominant figure. In the 2012/13 season, the Argentine superstar scored in 19 consecutive league matches for Barcelona, turning that half-season into one of the most extraordinary personal performances in football history.
