Nottingham Forest is said to have made an important choice about their head coach, Jose Mourinho.
According to The Sun, Nottingham Forest currently has no plans to appoint Jose Mourinho, and the current manager Nuno Espirito Santo remains with the team.
This news comes amid Mourinho’s recent departure from Fenerbahce after failing to secure a Champions League spot for the Turkish club. Immediately, rumors surfaced suggesting the Portuguese coach might return to the Premier League to lead Nottingham Forest.
The source of these rumors began with a notable press conference by Nuno, where he candidly admitted that his relationship with owner Evangelos Marinakis was no longer as close as before and hinted at a possible departure from the club.
However, Marinakis quickly denied any discord. The Greek businessman affirmed that his relationship with Nuno is solid and without issues. The two are also scheduled to meet over the weekend for further discussions.
Marinakis also emphasized that the Portuguese coach remains the right fit to lead Nottingham Forest this season, dispelling rumors about the future of the head coach position.
As for Mourinho, the Portuguese coach was dismissed from Fenerbahce after the Turkish club’s loss to Benfica in the Champions League playoff round, resulting in their drop to the Europa League. Notably, the "Special One" only worked at Fenerbahce last season, meaning he will receive approximately 10 million Euros in contract compensation.
In the past, Mourinho has left a strong mark by managing top teams in England.
He began his journey in England with Chelsea in 2004 and immediately achieved success by winning the Premier League in his first season, along with setting a points record and impressive performance.
During his two tenures at Chelsea (2004–2007 and 2013–2015), Mourinho added two more Premier League titles and built a cohesive team focused on solidity and pragmatic play.
After leaving Stamford Bridge, he took on a new challenge at Manchester United from 2016 to 2018, where he won the Europa League, EFL Cup, and Community Shield. Then, from 2019 to 2021, he managed Tottenham, leaving a mark with impressive performances both domestically and in Europe.
